A strong empire in Endless Legend 2 needs more than a large army or a productive capital. You have to keep expanding your income, use your faction's special mechanics, and prepare for the changes brought by Monsoon and Tidefall. Unused resources and lost veterans can set you back. These tips keep your economy, military, and victory plans aligned.

Keep the Expansion Snowball Moving

Expansion should never be limited to founding another city. It also means developing more territory around existing settlements, extending Foundations, and gaining access to deposits your empire cannot yet exploit. Increase Food, Industry, Dust, Science, or Influence regularly to afford improvements.

Tidefall reveals new land and can expose Strategic Resources that were unavailable earlier. Send scouts into the newly opened areas and consider which deposits are worth claiming. Some resources are essential for advanced Specializations. Steady expansion also supplies Dust for construction buyouts.

Use Your Faction's Main Advantage

Each faction has a different way to accelerate its development. The Last Lords rely heavily on Dust to grow their population and maintain their economy. The Aspects benefit from producing Influence, which supports diplomacy, expansion, and their broader network of Minor Faction relationships.

Other factions require more active management. The Kin of Sheredyn benefit from developing their fortified city structure and using their special powers, while the Tahuks can turn their unique abilities and Observatories into stronger research output. Don't stockpile a resource just because its number looks impressive. Look at what your faction can actually spend or convert it into, then direct production toward that advantage. Specialization can beat balanced production.

Fight Battles That Improve Your Army

You do not need to declare war on a Major Faction to gain battle experience. Saiadha contains roaming Minor Faction armies, fortified sites, and other hostile forces that can provide worthwhile encounters. Fighting manageable enemies gives your forces experience and can yield Battle Spoils, helping them prepare for more dangerous wars later.

Losing several veterans in a victory can still weaken you. Inspect the enemy before engaging, check your army's Health, and avoid leaving your borders undefended for a small reward. When there is little safe fighting nearby, look for Hero skills that improve experience gain. That develops forces without another expensive conflict.

Build Armies Around Quality

A faction's basic unit selection may appear small, but unit Specializations give the same unit different roles. These upgrades, combined with accumulated experience, can make a veteran much more useful than an untrained replacement. Spend Dust and Strategic Resources on the units you expect to keep, and inspect their Specialization paths before committing to one.

You can also include a cheaper Minor Faction unit as a front-line defender. Put it in a position where it draws attacks while your more valuable troops deal damage. Do not throw units away needlessly. Every lost veteran takes time to replace. Heroes are different because they ordinarily revive after being incapacitated, although their absence still matters.

Use Diplomacy to Protect Your Expansion

Try to establish relations with the other empires as soon as you meet them. A non-aggression agreement reduces conflict risks. However, do not sign every Treaty automatically. Open Borders, research cooperation, or an agreement involving the Aspects' coral network may benefit the other side more than it benefits you.

Pay extra attention to aggressive neighbors such as the Necrophage or Order of Zelevas. They can create pressure even when the rest of the map is peaceful. Secure routes toward their territory, prepare defensive armies, and avoid placing important settlements where they cannot be supported. Diplomacy cannot replace reliable defenses.

Plan Around Monsoon and Tidefall

Monsoon and Tidefall shape the pace of every campaign. The first Tidefall opens new ground for settlement and exploration. Later cycles bring further threats, including dangerous roaming enemies and Doomwraiths, while new victory objectives become available as the world changes. Prepare for each cycle before threats arrive.

Declaring a major war just before Monsoon is especially risky. Your armies may be far away when new threats appear, and you might lose the chance to collect seasonal Curiosities or defend exposed settlements. Immediately after a Tidefall can be a better opening for an offensive, but newly revealed land may be worth exploring instead. Decide beforehand whether your priority is conquest, defense, or claiming territory.

Use Consumables and Luxury Boosters

Hero equipment includes Consumables, and some of them are powerful enough to change the outcome of a close fight. Do not hoard every single-use item. Equip one when you expect to assault a tough position or face a battle where a temporary advantage could save veteran troops.

Luxury Resources provide another source of temporary bonuses. Once you have access to deposits, build the appropriate Quarries and check which boosters support your current plans. Some improve economic output or Approval, while others strengthen armies. Activate these bonuses when you can use their effects, especially before intensive building or combat.

Improve Roads and Army Movement

As your empire grows, its biggest weakness may become the time needed to move an army from one border to another. Trading Posts and the roads connecting settlements make long-distance movement easier. Research Markets to unlock Trading Posts, then develop routes between important cities rather than treating each settlement as an isolated project.

Think about which armies will defend distant holdings when a surprise attack begins. One strong force cannot protect every territory if reaching the threatened area takes too many turns. Roads, forward positioning, and additional defensive troops all reduce that problem. Before attacking, check reinforcement travel times and routes.

Choose a Victory Path Early

Endless Legend 2 offers the Awakening paths Worship, Impress, and Master, alongside Conquest Victory and Score Victory. The Awakening choices become available as the narrative advances after the second Tidefall. Each path has its own objectives, so the empire you build early should support the victory you eventually want to pursue.

Begin thinking about your preferred outcome once you understand the surrounding map, ideally within the opening twenty turns. Worship calls for population growth and Monuments to the Lost, Impress requires major research progress and control of pacified villages, while Master depends on territory and Doomwraith control. You can change Awakening paths, but changing direction late may waste previous investments. Unlocking a path does not mean you can complete it immediately.

Plan District and Unit Positioning

District placement affects more than the immediate yield of a tile. Terrain, nearby resources, and adjacency bonuses can determine how productive a city becomes later. Before establishing a Camp or expanding a settlement, examine which locations could eventually support clusters of Laboratories, Industry districts, or other structures. A poor early choice may leave you with fewer useful positions once the city grows.

Positioning matters just as much in combat. Some units gain bonuses when allied troops stand together or defend adjacent positions. The Kin of Sheredyn particularly reward coordinated defensive formations. Pay attention to movement, terrain, and the spaces beside each unit before giving orders. These decisions matter especially at greater difficulties.

The strongest empire combines steady expansion with faction-specific advantages, experienced armies, well-timed boosts, and a victory plan that accounts for every Monsoon and Tidefall.

FAQ

Q. When should you prepare for the next Tidefall?

A. Start before the current season ends. Keep scouts and defensive armies available so newly revealed territory and hostile forces do not catch your empire unprepared.

Q. How do you activate Luxury Resource bonuses?

A. Select a Luxury Resource icon in the empire interface and activate its booster when you have enough of that resource. Building a Trading Post also enables resource trading.

Q. Can you change your Awakening victory path?

A. Yes. You can switch between available Awakening paths, although the investments needed to complete their different objectives may not carry over usefully.
