Here’s a simple guide on how the Merchant and Economy System Works in Everwind

In Everwind, the merchant and economy system plays a big role in your progress. You do not just collect items and sell them anywhere. Where you sell, what you sell, and the condition of your items all affect how much you earn. This guide explains how settlements work, how merchants operate, and how you can use this system to move forward faster.
What are Settlements
- You find Settlements as large islands with many buildings. These are towns where NPCs and merchants are located.
- You can spot them easily from a distance. They usually have a group of buildings and a central area that looks like a town center.
- Unlike other islands, you do not need to search for resources in the open. Most items are found inside buildings.

Exploring Settlements Safely
- Inside Settlements, you can find animals, food supplies, and storage areas. However, you must be careful.
- If you attack animals in front of NPCs, they will react and turn hostile. The same happens if you are seen stealing.
- There are guards and other NPCs walking around. If they catch you taking items, the whole town may attack you. So you move carefully while looting.

Using Commission Boards
You will also find Commission Boards in settlements. These boards give you simple tasks.
You accept a task from the board and complete it to earn rewards. These tasks may ask you to collect items or defeat enemies. They are an easy way to gain experience while exploring.
Looting Buildings and Containers
Settlements contain many containers filled with items. You look for crates and barrels, especially ones covered with green cloth.
These often give a good amount of loot. You check every building and room to collect as much as possible.
You also find locked chests, desks, and wardrobes. To open them, you need keys or lockpicks. It is useful to carry these with you. You can fill your inventory quickly just by looting a single settlement.

Finding Hidden Areas
Settlements also contain hidden spots. You search behind shelves, walls, and objects like barrels.
These hidden areas often lead to rooms with extra loot. You may find two or three large chests inside. You take time to check these places, as they can give valuable items.
Understanding Merchant Types
There are different kinds of Merchants in the game. Each one deals with different items.
Some sell potions, others sell tools, food, weapons, or gear. This matters when you want to sell your items. You get better prices when you sell items to the correct type of merchant.

How Item Prices Work
The price of an item depends on several things. These include the item level, its condition, and any effects it has.
Items with better condition and useful effects sell for more. Damaged items sell for less. You keep this in mind before selling anything.
Merchant Coin Limits
Each Merchant has a limited amount of coins. When you sell items, their coins go down. When you buy items from them, their coins increase again.
You cannot sell everything to one merchant if they run out of coins. You need to move between different merchants.
Buying Back Items
You can buy back items you sold, but they will cost more than what you sold them for. Because of this, you make sure not to sell anything important by mistake.

What Merchants Offer
Merchants are not just for selling. They also offer useful items.
You can find new recipes, gear, tools, and materials. Some items may be better than what you already have.
You may also find crafting stations that you have not unlocked yet. Buying one allows you to use it even if you could not craft it before. You can also find potions, including one that lets you reset your skills.

Managing Vendor Inventory
Merchant inventory can change over time. An item you see at one moment may be different later. Because of this, you check vendors more than once while staying in a settlement. You may find new items or changes in what they offer.
Earning Coins Efficiently
One simple way to earn coins is by selling Fiber. You can find fiber almost everywhere. Each piece sells for a small amount, but you can collect a lot of them quickly. This makes it a steady way to earn coins. You can gather a few hundred pieces and sell them across different merchants.

Selling Strategy
You follow a simple method when dealing with merchants. First, you check what each merchant is selling. Then you buy what you need. After that, you sell your extra items.
When one merchant runs out of coins, you move to another. You repeat this process to get the most value.
Marking and Revisiting Settlements
You can place a marker on a Settlement so you can return later. This helps you revisit merchants, check new items, and sell more loot.
As you progress and reach higher areas, settlements become larger and offer better items.
Progression Through Economy
The merchant system helps you progress faster. You earn coins, buy better gear, and unlock new items.
You also use coins for ship upgrades and other needs.
By using settlements, merchants, and trading properly, you make your progress smoother as you explore Everwind.
