Sounds are used by Sonar, a Lancer in FragPunk who gathers information and is good at finding enemies and controlling crowds. This character's main job is to provide team information.
They also have special powers that make them look good and help them stay stealthy.Understanding Sonar's detection systems allows you to provide consistent information advantages while disrupting enemy movements through crowd control effects.

Echo Location
Your first ability places an echo location device that reveals moving enemies within its detection area. Unlike throwable abilities, you must place this device manually rather than throwing it from distance. This placement requirement means you need to position yourself where you want the detection coverage.
The device works particularly well for site control and area denial, as it provides continuous information about enemy movement in key areas. You can place it on objectives, in choke points, or near common rotation paths to monitor enemy activity.

Your team can see when enemies are moving, which lets you know about possible pushes, turns, or surprise attacks. As long as the gadget is turned on, it gives continuous intelligence. This makes it useful for long-term area tracking rather than just short-term data collecting.
Sonic Surge
Your second ability sends out a directed beam that affects all enemies caught in its path. The beam scans enemies, revealing their positions to your team, while simultaneously stunning them and knocking them upward. This combination of effects makes it both an information tool and a crowd control ability.
The beam creates a tunnel effect that affects anyone within its range, making it possible to hit multiple enemies with a single activation if they are positioned in line. The upward knockback component can disrupt enemy positioning and timing, particularly when they are trying to hold angles or execute coordinated movements.

The scanning effect provides immediate information about enemy positions while the stun and knockback effects give your team opportunities to capitalize on disrupted enemies. You can use this ability to both gather information and create engagement opportunities simultaneously.
Silent Movement and Sonar Immunity
Your third ability provides two defensive benefits: reduced footstep noise and immunity to enemy Sonar abilities. The quieter movement allows you to rotate and position yourself with less risk of being detected through audio cues, giving you stealth advantages for flanking and repositioning.

The immunity to other Sonar abilities protects you from enemy information gathering, making you harder to track and detect. This protection allows you to move through areas covered by enemy detection abilities without being revealed to opposing teams.
The combination of silent movement and detection immunity makes this ability valuable for both offensive and defensive situations. You can use it to approach enemies undetected or to avoid enemy information gathering while rotating between positions.
