Hollow Knight: Silksong Guide | How to Complete Volatile Flintbeetles Wish

Here's a guide on how to complete the Volatile Flintbeetles Wish in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

When you arrive in the Greymoor Region on your journey, this Wish will become available. The task is to find three Flintbeetles scattered throughout the Marrow Region and collect Flintgems from their bodies in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Starting the Wish

Find the Wish board you've used before in your journey by going to Bone Bottom. There will be a Wish called "Volatile Flintbeetles" that asks you to kill three Flintbeetles and collect their Flintgems. To the right of the Wish board area is the Marrow Region, which is where all three goals can be found.

First Flintbeetle Location

The first thing you need to find is a goal near the bottom of the Marrow Region. From the starting point, use the various parkour routes to move forward and climb up.

Move through the land until you find orange and amber formations that are glowing. These unique signs show that the first Flintbeetle has been found in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

When you hit this creature, it will fall from where it is standing right away. Focus your moves quickly, but stay away from the Flintbeetle if you can, because when it dies, it will explode and release a poisonous gas. When you're done fighting, go up to the dead body to get the first Flintgem.

Second Flintbeetle Location

The second bug inhabits a location reminiscent of the area where you found Fleas in an earlier Wish. Starting from your current location, head north and begin climbing up to the raised platform. Just go back the way you came from the Flea collection in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

To get from one level to the next, you have to jump between them. There will be dung droppings along the way that will help you find the Flintbeetle. Continue progressing through these levels until you reach the top. Then turn right and go to the upper corner of the area.

This high up is where the second Flintbeetle is waiting. Use the same strategies as before to fight it, but be aware that it will explode when it dies. Once the fight is over, take the second Flintgem from its remains.

Third Flintbeetle Location

To reach the last Flintbeetle, you must use more complicated movement. You need to go up and use the moving feature that is in this part of the Marrow Region. Use the special bounce pads to get higher. To get to the highest places, chain together several bounces in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Carefully move up and down this part of the walls, jumping from pad to pad, until you reach the top. Go to the bottom of this part once you've mastered the bouncing sequence. There will be a third Flintbeetle on the left side of this lower spot.

Use the same strategy to defeat this last Flintbeetle, and be aware of its explosive abilities. Get the previous and third Flintgem from the fight in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Wish Completion

Once you have collected all three Flintgems, return to Bone Bottom. Find the same Wish board where you initially agreed to complete the task and turn in the items you've collected.

When you finish the Volatile Flintbeetles Wish, you'll get a Memory Locket, which can be used to improve your Crest system. You can unlock an extra slot on one of your crests with this item. This lets you equip more than one item at once and improves your character's powers in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
