Throughout Chapter 1: Necropolis of Little Nightmares III, you will face multiple encounters with Monster Baby, the main threat of this chapter. Each encounter requires precise movement and the use of the environment to remain undetected. The following guide outlines every appearance of Monster Baby, along with instructions on how to avoid being caught and progress safely.

First Encounter

After unlocking the door earlier, you'll see Monster Baby for the first time. It briefly grabs a Crow before disappearing. This introduces what comes next.

Continue right to a floor Vent. Move to the Wardrobe on the far right, remove the Plank, and open it to find a Feather Umbrella, which lets you glide over vents or land safely from high drops.

Use the Feather Umbrella to float up to the top platform over the vent. Grab the Zipline to cross the gap, leading to a room with a Trap Door, marking the encounter's end in Little Nightmares III.

Second Encounter

After collecting the nearby Doll, use the Feather Umbrella to cross windy paths. Enter a shivering, narrow hallway, signaling Monster Baby’s approach. Sprint right, hide behind the Crate until it leaves, then continue to a room with a large Rattle stuck in the floor.

Monster Baby will return, grab the Rattle, and cause the floor to collapse. Jump into the hole to survive. You’ll reach an outdoor area where Monster Baby captures you—this is unavoidable. After it drops you, a cutscene shows Low in a cell with Alone in Little Nightmares III.

Third Encounter

When the birds take flight, they alert Monster Baby, which will sweep with its eye. Use cover and move carefully to reach the far door. After escaping its sight, follow the main route. You will see Monster Baby, but it will remain undetected.

Continue to a room with a Dweller Statue and a bell. In the next room, perform a Boost: one player lifts the other to reach a higher platform, then helps pull a Crate so the second can climb across.

Fourth Encounter

Once outside, Monster Baby appears for the fourth and final time. Avoid its Light while moving between hiding spots. When reaching the last Crate, have Low shoot it to clear a path. Monster Baby will grab the Crate; wait until it sets it down before hiding behind it in Little Nightmares III.

Continue past and reach the door, which requires both Low and Alone to push. Be ready for a quick-time event after passing through; sprint to avoid being crushed.

When encountering the Rattle, hide behind it as Monster Baby lifts the platform and scans. During this, a Crate will fall; hide behind it when Monster Baby pulls the Rattle away.

Crows will distract Monster Baby, then it will set you down and leave. Go right to a pit with a hanging Rope. Equip the Feather Umbrella before jumping for safety.

At the bottom, find a mirror similar to the one earlier. Have Low interact, then reach for Alone. When connected, you'll be pulled through and emerge from another Mirror in Little Nightmares III.
