Your Tarot Card loadout provides passive bonuses that you can combine with your weapons and your partner's abilities.

General Card Strategy

When playing Co-op, your build should complement your partner's. One of you might focus on crowd control while the other specializes in single-target damage.

In Rogue Angel mode, you cannot plan a full build from the start; you must adapt your strategy based on the Tarot Cards you find during your run.

You should prioritize cards that offer survivability and resource management in Rogue Angel mode.

Co-op Build: The 'Control and Nuke' Duo

This build is for managing large hordes of enemies. One player takes the 'Controller' role, and the other is the 'Nuker'. As the 'Controller', your job is to freeze, slow, or stun enemies.

You should use weapons with cold or electric alternate fires, like the SMG (Cryoshot) or Revolver (Volt Weaver).

You should look for Tarot Cards that enhance these effects, such as Permafrost, which makes your cold effects last longer and slow enemies more, or Synaptic Shock, which allows your electrical attacks to chain to additional targets.

As the 'Nuker', your role is to destroy the enemies your partner has grouped up. You should use high-damage, area-of-effect weapons like the Rocket Launcher or Shotgun.

For Tarot Cards, Generous Malice increases the blast radius of your rockets, and Aftershock causes your explosions to leave lingering damage traps on the ground.

Co-op Build: The 'Elite Hunter' Duo

This combination is designed to take down Elite Demons and bosses quickly by focusing on stagger and weak points. As the 'Hunter', you are the primary damage dealer.

You should use precise weapons like the Revolver or Stake Gun. Your Tarot Cards should focus on single-target damage.

Synaptic Embrace increases the damage-over-time from sticky projectiles, like the Volt Weaver, while Weak Point allows you to deal significantly more damage to enemies that are staggered.

As the 'Support', your job is to keep your partner alive and help build stagger. You can use any weapon effectively. Your Tarot Cards are defensive.

Guardian Angel reduces the damage you take when you are close to your partner, and Shared Fate causes you to heal your partner for a small amount whenever you pick up a Health Flask.

Rogue Angel Mode: Adapting to Survive

In Rogue Angel mode, your choices are limited to what the run offers, so your priority must shift to survival and resource efficiency. You must avoid perma-death.

Cards like Second Wind, which grant a burst of health when you are near death, are important. Thirst gives you a chance to spawn a Health Orb after performing a Painkiller Shredder kill.

Since resources are limited, Scavenger causes enemies to drop more ammo or health, and Painkiller Pact restores a small amount of ammo to your weapons whenever you use the Painkiller Shredder attack.

Because your weapons are often randomized, you should look for cards that work with any loadout. Elemental Purity makes all your elemental damage build up the Stagger gauge faster, and Momentum rewards movement by increasing your damage temporarily after a Dash or Slide.
