Obsidian's The Outer Worlds 2 reimagines dystopia with immutable builds, trench-war satire, and absurd combat, just in time to hijack Halloween 2025. This guide will cover the Vox Ship Crash decision.
At the end of the first major region, Paradise Island, you’ll be given an important decision to make when doing the Vox quest line.
After collecting all the classified data on Devze, something unplanned happens, and the ship malfunctions, and its trajectory falls towards Fairfield.
This movement marked one of the more important choices in The Outer Worlds 2 and decided the fate of different companions and two regions.

The game gives you various ways to solve the scenario. Using the hacking skill, you’ll be able to override the ship's navigation and direct it towards Westport; and letting it crash in either Westport or Fairfield has detrimental consequences, which will wipe out the entire place, including all of the vendors and NPCs, with a handful of survivors.
And more importantly, Inez, one of the companions, will no longer be traveling with the group if Fairfield is destroyed.
If you decide to send the ship to crash into Westport, it will save Fairfield, but all the vendors will probably be gone, making it difficult to trade, and it will be impossible to return to do quests.
Luckily, there is a third option which does seem significantly better than the other two.
With the hacking skill and lucky charm, it’s possible to change the trajectory of the ship to launch it to outer space instead of crashing it.
This will save everyone in the process and keep both of the towns intact, making it the more favorable choice.
