Borderlands 3 Will Not Have Slag Weapons, Replaced With New Element

Borderlands 3 has been a hot topic since its launch. Mostly due to the Epic Games Store exclusive deal. But small amounts of information has been surfacing from Gearbox Software. With Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, explaining that Slag won't appear in Borderlands 3.

There is no slag - we replaced it with something that actually makes a little sense. The new “element” damage type, which is like a nuclear radiation effect, has a similar effect to slag (increased vulnerability by those affected) and also has a damage-over-time component.

A fan asked about the element coming back since it played a major role in the past games. Randy Pitchford explained they've replaced it with a new "element" that does damage like a "nuclear radiation effect". It's similar to Slag, increasing damage, but has a damage-over-time component.

Borderlands 3 is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC on September 13, 2019.
