FC 26 promises a game full of surprises and fresh experiences.

We are finally approaching the official release of FC 26, and if you're anything like me, the excitement is real. This year, EA Sports has pulled out all the stops, adding a ton of new features that finally show Career Mode some love, and there's plenty more beyond that to get fans hyped.

One of the standout additions this year in FC 26 is the increased presence of drones, which we've already seen in action during player celebrations. These details are what make the "beautiful game" truly come alive. Speaking of Career Mode, some of the new challenges are already shaking things up. For example, some players will be blocked because they are simply too old. If you get really unlucky, one of your players might have an abrupt retirement, most likely due to injuries.

The staff market has also gotten an update. Hiring a new coach will now be refreshed every two weeks. EA Sports recently confirmed the top 26 highest-rated players. After weeks of speculation, all the ratings are upon us, with Mo Salah and Kylian Mbappe sharing the top spot. Some ratings, like Kane's downgrade after an impressive season with Bayern Munich, were met with criticism, though.

Scoring goals is more exciting this year, too. Players now trigger random celebratory poses on-screen, and there's a lot here to look forward to. EA has been actively tweaking gameplay based on beta feedback, including balancing low-driven shots. These shots were almost too OP in beta, so just spamming low-driven shots won't magically make you Messi.

South American football fans will be pleased to know that Argentina's Racing Club's stadium, Estadio Presidente Perón, is making its debut in the game. EA has released a trailer celebrating the stadium's 75th anniversary, and they've promised to capture the true atmosphere of South American matches with the tribalism that soccer fans show. Expect louder crowd noise, and maybe even some flares to bring the true South American match-going experience right into your living room.

Contracts have gotten more detailed as well. Some clubs will be strict as they are IRL, clearly stating that if you fail to meet objectives, your contract will be reviewed. The team selection screen has also been revamped to show more information in a cleaner layout, making it easier to manage your squad. And both the men's and women's La Liga now feature updated trailers highlighting new celebrations, kits, and player face updates.

Icons like Kaka are returning for another year, and he even has his own trailer showcasing new legends coming to the game. Player management is more flexible than ever; assigning roles is no longer mandatory, so you can fully customize your very own tactical masterclass and channel your inner Pep Guardiola. First-person replays, which caused some players motion sickness in previous versions, can now be toggled off entirely.

EA has confirmed that there will be seven five-star-rated teams this year: Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich. Fans of legends will also be happy to hear about a playable "team of legends" available in the Rest of the World section. While it may not be realistic to use this team in Career Mode, it's perfect for kickoff banter with friends.

Player Career Mode has received one of the biggest upgrades in years. The new Archetype system allows for unique progression paths, meaning your player will grow differently depending on which attributes you prioritize. There will be a variety of play styles. This adds depth and personalization to your save.

The game's soundtrack is also shaping up to be a highlight, featuring 90 tracks from big names like Bad Bunny, Childish Gambino, and Tyler, the Creator, but despite the big names, you know we love the FC soundtracks for the underground artists they bring to the forefront.

Manager compatibility has been added as a factor in Career Mode, affecting notifications about job offers and opportunities to manage higher-profile clubs. Let's say you are starting off as an EFL Championship manager and rising through the ranks and moving to the Premier League, but you won't get there from day one.

Some longtime fans will notice a change with KDB, who, for the first time in seven years, won't be rated over 90. It's the end of an era for the Man City legend. Updates, like being able to toggle on or off the new playstyle plus icons, skill move ratings, and playstyle indicators in player radars, are noteworthy on the other hand. Another major addition is deeper simulation, which many of us may not be aware of, but it allows players to simulate up to five additional leagues alongside their main one.

Legends like Stevie G are back, and preorder campaigns are more exciting this year. The Pepsi campaign returns, letting players enter codes from bottles to earn Ultimate Team packs. You can now also track a player's full potential across multiple seasons, whether in your main league or the extra simulated leagues, helping you with transfers.

Ultimate Team is also getting new features, including the "World Tour" promotion with unique card designs. Women's football ratings are confirmed, though some of us may need guidance to determine if they're accurate. AI defender behavior has been adjusted based on beta feedback, ensuring defenders aren't unnaturally fast as they used to be in FC 25.

All in all, FC 26 is shaping up to be one of the most feature-packed entries in recent memory. It's no longer the FIFA days when we used to cry out for changes in Career Mode to get nothing back year in and year out. It's a relief seeing how far EA has come from then.

From enhanced Career Mode customization and stadium authenticity to legendary teams and a killer soundtrack, there's something for everyone. Whether you're managing your favorite teams, like your Madrids or your Liverpools, or building your player from the ground up, or just enjoying Ultimate Team, FC 26 is promising a season full of soccer mania.
