French Yoshi’s Woolly World Amiibos Partially Destroyed, Preorders Lost

It’s time for a lot of hilarity or heartache or both at the expense of Nintendo, again. A recent message from store chain Auchan’s subsidiary Boulanger sent out messages that preorders of Yoshi’s Woolly World amiibos wouldn’t be fulfilled. In the mail, it mentions a depletion of stock. All preorders would be reimbursed.

Messages on the store’s Twitter feed revealed that Nintendo sent out a message that the wooly Yoshi figurines had been destroyed:

Affected stock would concern preorders after April 16, according to another message from the chain:

The special wool amiibo figures are already in low stock, as they always are. Only 2500 per color were sent out in France. It’s uncertain how many of these were affected in total, but any number subtracted from such a ridiculously small batch is likely to upset a lot of people, who already had to pay more for the item than their regular counterparts.

This news of stock destruction follows soon after a lorry with Splatoon materials was stolen in the UK. There, again, the result was that a lot of people would have trouble finding the special amiibo figurines. At this point, amiibo can be compared to a sudden change in the world supply of LSD. You should totally look up that story sometimes, it's both insane and fascinating.

At least resellers are living in a golden age, right? As if Nintendo isn't having a hard enough time fighting people's expectations of their E3 2015 presentation. Oh, Nintendo, you are the world's oddity.
