Magicka May Be Released On Other Platforms

According to site MyGaming, developer Arrowhead Game Studios has future plans to release their latest title, Magicka to other platforms. Arrowhead Studios’ PR manager, Patrik Lasota said that developing for PC is “viable in today's gaming landscape,” though he also wanted to reach a much wider audience and give them the opportunity to play the game.

 

 

"We would very much like to release it on multiplatform, and we are trying to make this a reality," Lasota stated. However, he added the fact that the studio “can make no promises for a console release." A multiplatform Magicka release is possible, considering the fact that Arrowhead is not done supporting the game. Aside from the recent patches, they’ve also released a soundtrack, as well as announcing future DLC. The game has also sold over 200,000 copies since its release, so it sounds like they’re doing quite well.

 

If this indeed becomes a reality, it's great news for those that don’t have access to a good running PC (as yours truly is). This would hopefully give console gamers a bug-free version of the original, plus more exposure to the developer and the game itself. It’ll be interesting though, how they’ll implement the PC version’s control schemes onto a 360 or PS3 controller, as it relies heavily on the keyboard. But if it gives more people a chance to try this humorous game out, I’m all for it.
