More SaGa Remasters On The Way

SaGa Frontier Remastered recently released, and Square Enix has already confirmed that there are plans to give the same treatment to other entries in the franchise. Series creator Akitoshi Kawazu has specifically singled out Romancing SaGa, SaGa Frontier 2, and Unlimited SaGa as top candidates. That is quite a spread as the aforementioned games released on completely different console generations: Super Nintendo, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2, respectively. This makes ports possible on any system, or potentially as a bundled collection.

 

SaGa Frontier Remastered has many quality of life improvements, including clean updated sprites, increased game speed, automatic saving, and a New Game Plus to bring abilities into the next playthrough. The remaster has reinstates cut content like the eighth character Fuse. If the same treatment was brought to the other entries, it would be highly appreciated by fans. Of the mentioned titles, SaGa Frontier 2 was notorious for its brutal structure that could leave players in game over loops if they didn’t save often and in multiple slots.
