Nintendo Paid Online Service to Launch in September

One of the great things about Nintendo was the fact you didn't have to pay to play online, well that's changing this fall. The paid online service will start this September.

For those unaware of the service, this online system will be required to play online video games, give access to the Nintendo Smart Phone application that provides voice chat, friend invites, and game lobbies, free games, and special eShop discounts.

The Nintendo Switch Online service lets Nintendo Switch owners enjoy online multiplayer gaming as well as Nintendo Switch Online app that connects to your Nintendo Switch system and helps you connect with friends for online play sessions in compatible games.

Classic Game Selection* and eShop deals 
Subscribers will have ongoing access to a compilation of classic games with added online play, such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight and Dr. Mario, and will receive special offers that may include discounts on select digital games and content.

The base price is $3.99 per month with three month and full year plans available at $7.99 and $19.99. This is significantly lower than Nintendo’s competitors over at Xbox and PlayStation. Each coming in at around $9.99 per month or $24.99 for three months or $59.99 for a full year.
