Proun Releases Sales Stats

A while ago, we reported about this great independent racing game called Proun. The game developed in off-hours by Ronimo Games employee Joost Van Dongen was launched last year, as a Pay-What-You-Want game. Since then, Joost has done some experiments and has been very transparent about his process.

His latest procedure investigates whether or not removing the free version of the title would influence its sales. While there is no truly conclusive element to teeter either way, there are some positive aspects from the removal. By trying to ignore artificial spikes from pin-pointed media attentions and such, it is still possible to deduce that sales are still not declining, even though the title has been out for a while. The entire blog post can be found here.

Proun is still raking in a bit of additional cash for the developer, which is rather nice. More niceness is Joost’s transparency. By revealing this information, other potential game makers can see what a plausible outcome for their project would look like. Proun received an 82/100 from us. We suggest you check it out.
