Persona 5 is widely considered one of the best JRPGs available and its update Persona 5 Royal provided new content that pleased a lot of fans. So much so that according to SEGA it achieved record sales in the west.

According to Persona Central,
In response to a question asking for Sega to elaborate on digital sales of physical game titles going well overseas, the performance of the recently released Persona 5 Royal was highlighted, among other game titles.
Also, in the “Persona” series, “Persona 5 Royal” began selling in the U.S. and Europe on March 31st, achieving record sales. While physical sales were restricted, the ratio of digital sales increased significantly and are remaining strong in FY21/3 (fiscal year ending in March 2021).
An exact number was not provided but according to the site, SEGA did state that digital sales are increasing and physical sales have decreased. This sharp increase is likely due to the outbreak as Persona 5 Royal did launch recently. However, digital sales are still higher than physical sales generally.
I had the chance to review Persona 5 Royal and consider it a must-play for any JRPG fan. As a newcomer to the franchise this was my first experience with the series and immediately was smitten by narrative, characters, and combat system. Now I'm an official Persona fan.
Persona 5 Royal is now available for PS4.
