Shooting at Madden NFL 19 Tournament in Jacksonville, Area Secured

A horrible event has just transpired during the Madden NFL 19 Tournament in Jacksonville, Flordia. A mass shooting opened fire killing and injuring several people.

The event was livestreamed on Twitch before the broadcast cut off after gunshots were heard. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office quickly reacted, sending information on Twitter to avoid the area. Later the Sheriff's office confirmed that multiple "fatalities" have been confirmed and many more injured.

A conference has happened on Facebook confirming that the area has been cleared but there's no official count of the victims and those suffering from injuries are currently getting treatment from local hospitals.

EA, publisher of the Madden franchise took to Twitter to address the shooting.

We are aware of an incident at a sanctioned Madden Championship Series competition in Jacksonville. We are working with authorities to gather facts at this stage.

Update 8/16/2018

Jacksonville Sheriff Williams held another conference stating the 3 people were found deceased at the scene including the suspect. The individual has been identified as 24-year old David Katz from Baltimore, Maryland who took his own life, he used 1 handgun to commit the shooting and confirmed that "he was there for the competition".
