This year Sony took part in Black Friday by providing customers with discounts on PS4 consoles, games, and PSVR headset bundles. Head of PlayStation Network, Eric Lampel, revealed that “biggest Black Friday in PlayStation history.”
During the annual shopping holiday Lampel told CNBC “sold more consoles than we ever have in our 22-year history,” said Lempel. The Sony executive also noted that new PS4 owners have gone on to purchase PlayStation Plus subscriptions as well.
Lampel went on to explained that the PSVR headset was very popular, explaining that many customers "absolutely love" it and that there's a lot more coming for the headset. With games such as The Impatient, a prequel to the successful and popular survival-horror game Until Dawn, PSVR users have more to look forward too.
These strong Black Friday numbers come ahead of the PlayStation Experience 2017. The event takes place in December and provides everyone with information regarding the future of the PlayStation console and PSVR. Right now gamers can enjoy exclusive games like Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Horizon Zero Dawn, and NieR: Automata to name a few.
