Despite multiple delays, South Park: The Stick of Truth was released earlier this month with high acclaim from both reviewers and consumers. It received an 81/100 on NoobFeed and currently has a score of 85 on Metacritic. However, despite this success a sequel has not been assured.
The creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, have left to work on another project and describe The Stick of Truth's development as "hellacious." However, this doesn't mean that a sequel is not a possibility as Matt Stone left a glimmer of hope that another video game is entirely feasible.
In an interview with IGN the creators explained how their participation in the development of the game shifted gradually. Excerting no creative control and liscensing the property out, the game was meant as a casuel experience that quickly grew requiring more time in order to create.
