Back in 2009 Rocksteady made headlines of delivering the best superhero game with Batman: Arkham Asylum. Now of Spider-Man for the PS4, many whom are citing to become the next big superhero game from Insomniac, will be an ongoing series.

Entertainment vice president Jay Ong talked with Venture Beat to confirm that Spider-Man PS4 will become an ongoing series:

“Certainly it’s the beginning of great things to come,” said Ong explained. “It’s the culmination of two years of effort from my team, following this strategy of bigger, better, fewer games. It’s going to be a tentpole in our console portfolio, but the first of many that we’ll be announcing sometime in the future."

In another interview with GameIndustry.biz Ong stated that "the future of Spider-Man console games is with Sony and Insomniac".

“Spider-Man is in a special place for us. For those of us on the games team it’s a deeply personal choice. This character, for a lot of us, is the reason why we fell in love with Marvel in the first place. It has a special meaning. And certainly from a commercial perspective it’s the most iconic Marvel superhero,” Ong added about the importance of putting the series in the “right hands.”

Insomniac recently released the Ratchet and Clank, a reboot of the original game, with huge acclaim from critics and fans. Seeing the studio take on a legendary character such as Spider-Man is massive. Currently the game is sitting well with fans after being revealed at Sony's E3 conference, with debates stirring about the suit.

Regardless with the exception of Fuse seeing Insomniac has an excellent track record. Perhaps they'll mimic what Rocksteady did with Batman.
