Ahead of its release, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn has had some notable updates, with Alcat Games improving the game's voice performances and bringing in an experienced writer to contribute to its narrative. These updates show the studio is actively working on the game well before players get their hands on the final version.
The voice changes are already turning heads, but adding a former BioWare writer is another big move for fans of story-driven RPGs. Both updates also give a better insight into how the developers are approaching the project as they continue to develop it.

One particularly interesting part of these changes is the developer's active role in addressing potential problems before launch.
You see games that are released with obvious problems, only to take multiple updates to reach their potential. However, both The Expanse: Osiris Reborn and Exodus have been willing to make major improvements months before their respective releases. That's a welcome change of pace, especially given how often players have to wait for post-launch patches to fix problems that could have been addressed during development.
The community response to the changes has been just as overwhelmingly positive, with many players admitting how much better the new performances sound. The original recordings apparently left something to be desired for some, so this upgrade is welcome for the project. The developers didn't just leave the existing dialogue as is but took the extra time and effort to make the characters more believable.
However, the voice overhaul isn't the only big development happening around the upcoming RPG. He also revealed he's been working with the Alcat Games team on BioWare's Dragon Age series. His involvement is another encouraging sign for fans of BioWare's earlier RPGs, particularly those who enjoyed his work on Dragon Age.
Along with his work at Summerfall, Gaider has also worked on some of the narrative for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. "I've been a big fan of The Expanse for a long time, so getting the chance to work on the project was particularly exciting," he said.
Gaider's background is particularly interesting because of his long history with BioWare's role-playing games.
He was lead writer on Dragon Age: Origins, and also worked on Dragon Age: Inquisition, while helping out on other projects, including Dragon Age II and Star Wars: The Old Republic. His past work has made him a name well known to fans of strong storytelling and character development.
His involvement also highlights the connections between The Expanse and Exodus and the developers who previously worked on BioWare's most popular franchises. Exodus has attracted several people associated with Mass Effect, while The Expanse appears to have connections to the Dragon Age side of the studio. Casey Hudson, another BioWare veteran, is also working on Fate of the Old Republic.

Gaider isn't in charge of the full story of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. I'm focusing on certain aspects of the story of the game," he explained. "It's a more specialized thing." His experience still counts, whether he's consulting, helping the writing team, or working on a story element. The developers have also been teasing something interesting on their social media accounts, perhaps giving players an idea as to when the game could arrive.
"Then let your guesses be known, acolytes, until then. The post comes with a calendar running from November to October next year, with several months already crossed out. That leaves only January, May, and August, which has fueled speculation that one of those could be thegame'ss release window.
The exact meaning of the calendar is not confirmed, but August seems a reasonable guess.
January doesn't seem likely, especially given the amount of development work and improvements being discussed. May is another option, especially since Exodus is slated to release at the start of April, a day before Final Fantasy VII. Having The Expanse follow in May would put two comparable science fiction RPGs on the market in consecutive months.
May would still provide a reasonable release window, although the game could end up competing more closely with other major releases, including God of War. A mid-May release would separate the game somewhat from the April releases, but it might also put it relatively close to other big anticipated titles.
There is no official confirmation for May and August yet, so players will have to wait for the developers to reveal their plans. Given recent updates that have brought more attention to the project, it would make sense to have a new trailer and release-date announcement during The Game Awards.
The improved voice acting, the involvement of David Gaide,r and the continued development work are all good signs for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn ahead of launch. If Alcat Games maintains these improvements before release, the upcoming RPG could give Dragon Age and Mass Effect fans another reason to be excited for a new science fiction adventure.
