Update: Duke Nukem - Next Gen is GO!

Time to kick ass and chew bubble-gum, gentlemen!
It seems we’ve run out of bubble-gum, but we still have a bright future of the former ahead of us. It seems Frederik "Fresch" Schreiber has fallen into some good news, thanks to the exposure of his project by numerous media. The man trying to do a remake of Duke Nukem 3D, recently asked Gearbox Software (whom owns 3D Realms) for permission to start working on the game.
Usually these fanmade tributes get shut down by the property owners, such as Fresch’s attempt at recreating Daikatana. But it seems all the extra attention has persuaded Gearbox of the benevolence of the project. Duke Nukem: Next Gen has thus received a personal non-commercial license. This means as much as being able to make the game as it was, but also use the Duke Nukem name brand.
The good news continues to flow, as a rather sizeable team was created to work on the project. So much so, that they aren’t hiring anyone else at the moment. And to think it was feared this would become a one-man Sisyphus labor. Fresch even mentioned that Gearbox will support the game process!
Enjoy the short video footage made in celebration of this glorious news!
