Witcher Author Receiving Compensation from CD Projekt RED Following Lawsuit
The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski will finally earn additional payments from CD Projekt Red
News by Grayshadow on Feb 06, 2019
Back in October, The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski filed a lawsuit against CD Projekt RED for additional royalties for the games. The lawsuit asked for $16 million USD, 60 million Polish zloty, claiming copyright claims after selling the rights to make the games to the CD Projekt RED for a one-time payment. In a report from the Polish outlet Puls Biznesu (via Wccftech), CD Projekt Red has apparently reached some form of settlement with The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski for additional compensation earned from the games’ success after the original game in 2007.
It isn't clear what compensation the studio will provide Sapkowski but it's likely not the original amount. Considering how much time is going in Cyberpunk 2077 it's likely that the studio wanted to settle the case instead of dedicating more resources into it.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Cyberpunk 2077 is now in development for the same platforms.
