Exploring underwater areas in Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown opens up large sections of the map to search.
But you can’t just jump into deep water at once. You've got to hit certain campaign milestones, upgrade your base, build a vessel and grab proper gear so you don't run out of air. Here is how it works and what you need to do step by step.
Unlocking the Diving Ability
You cannot swim down into deep ocean waters until you gain entry to the Great Ocean zone. Reaching this region requires steady campaign progress. First, clear Chapter 3 in the main storyline. Next, upgrade your base at Greymane Camp.
Finally, pick up the Charting the Unknown questline tied to the Greymanes faction. Once you grab this questline and arrive in the Great Ocean, your basic ability to submerge underwater activates in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

Getting Ship for Faraway Dive Spots
Reaching dive spots near the coast is simple enough, but the most valuable underwater spots sit far out at sea. Swimming out to them on your own will drain your stamina before you even get close.
To reach deeper open-sea dive locations, you need your own boat. Keep playing through the A Wider World quest chain until you reach the sub-quest called A Call From Beyond the Horizon.
Finishing that specific mission hands you the keys to your personal ship. From there, you can sail across rough currents, drop anchor near deep ocean trenches, and jump overboard straight into target dive locations.
Getting Diving Suits & Armor Sets
While you can technically submerge without specialized clothing, your breath runs out fast and your movement in the water stays slow. Wearing dedicated diving gear increases how long you can hold your breath and helps you swim faster.
Getting Gear from Demeniss Relic Exchange
If you did not pre-order the expansion, you can buy two separate sets from an NPC named Sulivan. These options are the Marine Charter's Diving Set and the Marine Charter's Light Diving Set in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.
You will find Sulivan running the Demeniss Relic Exchange. Instead of standard gold, Sulivan trades armor pieces for Ancient Relics, a currency found scattered across seafloor wrecks and sunken ruins.
The headpiece, gloves, and boots cost five Ancient Relics each. That applies to the Marine Charter's Diving Helm, Marine Charter's Light Diving Helm, Marine Charter's Diving Gloves, Marine Charter's Light Diving Gloves, Marine Charter's Diving Boots, and Marine Charter's Light Diving Boots.
The chest armor pieces, which are the Marine Charter's Diving Suit and Marine Charter's Light Diving Suit, cost seven Ancient Relics each. Buying an entire four-piece set will cost you twenty-two Ancient Relics in total.
Pre-Order Armor Sets
If you pre-ordered the Charting the Unknown expansion, you get the Charter's Diving Set and Charter's Light Diving Set automatically in your inventory or claim box.
Both sets include all four pieces, giving you a helmet, suit, gloves, and boots right away in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.
Equipping either one gives you bonus swim speed and underwater breath support immediately, saving you from having to farm currency early in your playthrough.

FAQ
Q. Can I dive anywhere in the game right from the start?
A. You can't. The Greymane camp needs to be upgraded in Chapter 3, before you can start the DLC.
Q. Do I need a diving suit to explore underwater?
A. You can swim under the surface without one, but your breath runs out quickly and you move slowly. Wearing a set like the Marine Charter's Diving Suit makes deep exploration and resource gathering much easier to handle.
