Taking over a massive stronghold gives you a place to furnish, store resources, and house your fighters in Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown. You can claim two major fortresses for your faction: Drakesfall Castle and Flame Knights' Castle.

Unlocking them takes a lot of story progress, heavy resource gathering, and plenty of patience while your squad finishes reconstruction. Here is how you can unlock both strongholds and get them ready to occupy in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown Unlocking Flame Knights' Castle

Unlocking Drakesfall Castle

Drakesfall Castle acts as your first major stronghold option in the expansion. You cannot unlock it during the early parts of the game because access is locked behind end-game story content.

First, you need to clear the fortress of bandits and liberate the site. After that, finish the main campaign through the epilogue mission named Journey's End.

Once the credits roll and the epilogue wraps up, you unlock a fresh questline. Pick up the quest titled Shield of Hernand. During this Quest, Duke Celeste awards the title of Drakesfall Castle to the Greymanes for their defense of Hernand.

Rebuilding the fortress requires a dedicated dispatch crew and substantial camp reserves. You must invest 30,000 Camp Funds and send out 20 Greymane Comrades.

At least one of those fighters must possess the Construction Skill, marked by the brick icon. Once dispatched, the crew takes 15 in-game days to finish the rebuild, so you will need to tackle other side jobs while you wait for the doors to open in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

Unlocking Flame Knights' Castle

The second stronghold you can occupy is the Flame Knights' Castle, located in the region of Demeniss. Rebuilding this fortress demands far more materials and planning than your first base.

To get started, play through and complete Damiane's personal story quest called From the Ashes. Next, fight your way through the site to liberate the fortress itself in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

Clearing the stronghold unlocks a new faction questline called A Memory Beyond Ashes, filed under your Charting the Unknown tasks. Follow this questline until you gain the ability to launch the major dispatch project.

Fixing up this stronghold requires massive stockpiles. You will need to gather 100,000 Camp Funds, 10,000 Camp Weapons, 40,000 Camp Stone, 40,000 Camp Wood, and 10,000 Camp Provisions.

On top of that huge resource sink, you must send 20 Greymane Comrades, ensuring at least one of them carries the Construction Skill in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

Just like the first fortress, reconstruction takes 15 in-game days once you dispatch your squad. Make sure your settlement supplies are fully stocked before committing these materials so your normal camp operations do not grind to a halt.
