Losing puzzle pieces in a Sanctum Quest can really throw a wrench in your plans, especially if you're not sure how to retrieve them.

Often, these quests involve dealing with particular objects, such as a Battery or specific Pillars. This guide will explain why these items sometimes go missing and how to retrieve them, so you can finish your exploration of the ruins.

Why Puzzle Pieces Vanish

The most common reason a puzzle piece disappears is leaving the immediate quest area. If you are carrying a Battery and run too far away to find a second piece, the first one may vanish.

Sometimes even staying within the ruins isn't enough if you wander too deep into a different section for too long. To prevent this, try to keep all puzzle items close together and stay within the specific boundaries of the Sanctum Quest you are working on in Crimson Desert.

How to Retrieve Lost Items

If a piece does disappear, it is not gone forever, but it will cost you. These misplaced items end up in the Lost Item section of your camp. The system is designed to work even if your camp isn't fully operational; the items will be there, ready and waiting, as soon as you are.

To reclaim them, locate Carl, an NPC at your camp. Talk to him, and then go to the Manage Provision section. There, you'll find an option labeled Recover Items.

The Cost of Recovery

The downside to recovering these pieces is the price. Each lost item typically costs 10 Silver to retrieve. In the early stages of the game, this can be a very high price that takes hours of gameplay to earn back in Crimson Desert.

While money becomes less of a concern after you have played for about 50 Hours, losing multiple pieces early on can be financially crippling. Staying focused and keeping your items nearby is the best way to avoid this unnecessary expense.
