DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined Guide | Pit of Silence Mirror Puzzle Solution

A quick walkthrough to disable both Orbs and break the Energy Cage in the Pit of Silence.

One of the hardest puzzles in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is in the Pit of Silence. The goal is easy, but the setup can be hard. You need to save High Priestess Jacqueline to bring back peace and prosperity to Alltrades Abbey.

The only way to break the Energy Cage is to turn off two Orbs. The puzzle is on the top floor. It uses mirrors to send a beam of light to each orb.

An Overview of the Puzzle on the Upper Floor

There will be a left side and a right side to work with. The left side comes first because that's where the Beam starts. There are more Mirrors and moving parts on the right side, so it takes longer. Be patient and keep moving the small angles and positions around until the light lines up perfectly.

Setting Up the Left Side Mirror

Begin on the left side of the room, where the Beam is clearly aimed. A Mule will get in the way, so move it out of the way and park it where it won't get in the way. Then, push it again so that it is in front of the first Mirror. Don't put it too far away. If it goes too far, pull it back and give it a little push up.

The first Mirror should send the light to the next Mirror on this side. Once that reflection looks good, go ahead and change the position of the next mirror.

If the alignment feels too tight, move it up a little bit until there is just enough room between the Mirrors. Move the next Mirror down a little to finish the left side. The light will connect and the first Orb will break if the path is right.

Setting up the right side mirror

After the first Orb goes down, go to the right side. There are a lot of Mirrors in this area, so it's important to make room. Start by moving the wrong Mirror out of the way. Move it out of the way so it doesn't block your paths. The next Mirror is the most important one, so make sure you move it into place.

Push the important Mirror up and get it ready for the last reflection. In the last step on this side, the Beam needs to change direction from your key Mirror to the Mirror next to the Orb.

Carefully put it down, then check the line. You still need one more mirror to close the gap if the light doesn't reach cleanly. Put the extra mirror in the middle and in front of the passage so it can catch the light and send it on.

Fixing the wrong reflections and finishing the beam

Some placements on the right side will look close but still be wrong. The combination is wrong if the light starts to make an odd shape, like an almost-square pattern.

Take the wrong mirror away and try again. Take out the other Mirror if it is also wrong. Some things might not move, so you should work around them and remember the main goal of the reflection.

Once the last redirection is right, the second Orb will break, the Energy Cage will fail, and High Priestess Jacqueline will be free. Before you go on, make sure the cage is gone and check the area.
