Here’s an easy guide on how the mechanics of the Airship system work

In Everwind, your airship is your main base and your main way to move around. You use it to explore islands, gather materials, and reach new areas. To progress in the game, you need to understand how the airship works and how to upgrade it step by step. This guide explains how to build, manage, and improve your airship in a simple way.
Claiming and Rebuilding an Airship
Early in the game, you get a quest to claim an airship. You can do this at any time. While exploring, you may also find abandoned ships on islands.
Some of these ships already have a good setup. If you want, you can move your base to one of them and rebuild from there. This can save time if you find a better structure.

Core Airship Components
To use an airship, you need a few main parts. The Cockpit lets you control and steer the ship. The Generator provides power. The Engines move the ship forward. The Balloons lift the ship upward.
All of these parts work together. Without one of them, your ship will not function properly.

Importance of Altitude in Progression
Your progress depends on how high your ship can go. Higher islands have better materials and stronger enemies.
If you want better loot and more rewards, you need to increase your altitude. This also allows you to access harder dungeons and bosses.
Fuel and Power Management
Your Generator needs fuel to run. Early in the game, you mainly use wood. Different fuels last for different amounts of time. Logs last longer than planks, so you use logs when possible.
You always carry extra fuel. If your generator runs out, your ship will stop and slowly fall down.

Connecting Ship Components
All parts of your ship must connect to the Generator. This is done using pipes. If something is not connected properly, the ship will not work. You may notice steam leaking from pipes if there is a problem.
You do not need to connect every part directly. They just need to link together in one system.
Building and Expanding Your Ship
You start small and add parts slowly. You begin with one Balloon, one Generator, and one Engine. If your ship cannot lift, you add another Balloon. You keep adjusting until it works.
One Generator can power multiple parts. A common setup is one generator for three components. This could be two Engines and one Balloon, or other combinations. You try to balance your setup before crafting too many parts.

Improving Speed and Lift
You add more Engines to increase speed. You add more Balloons to rise faster and reach higher areas.
A simple setup can be three to four Balloons, two to three Engines, and a few Generators to support them. As you build more, you make sure you have enough power for everything.
Weight and Balance System
Your ship’s weight affects how it moves. Every block you place adds weight. Heavier ships move slower and need more lift. To balance this, you add more Balloons and Engines.
Different materials have different weights. For example, wood is lighter than stone. You keep this in mind while building.
Items placed on your ship also add weight. You try to keep a balance between weight and power so your ship can still move well.

Common Movement Issues
Sometimes your ship may not move even if everything looks correct. One reason could be too much weight. In that case, you add more lift or reduce blocks.
Another reason could be that your ship is stuck on something like trees or terrain. You check that your ship is not touching anything before trying again.
Safe Travel and Positioning
You do not need to land your ship on every island. Instead, you can stop your ship in the air above the island.
You then jump down and explore. When you are done, you use your Compass to return to your ship. This helps prevent your ship from getting stuck.
You also turn off your Generator while exploring. This saves fuel, as it continues to run even when you are not using the ship.

Ship Upgrade System
Your airship has three main upgrade paths. These are Speed, Size, and Altitude. Each upgrade costs materials like ingots, crystals, and other items you collect during the game. You choose upgrades based on your needs.
Upgrade Priority
You focus on Altitude first because it allows you to reach new areas. Next, you upgrade Speed so you can travel faster and control your ship better. You upgrade the size last. A larger ship is harder to manage and not needed early on.

Building Limits and Expansion
When you upgrade your ship’s size, you see a grid while holding a block. This shows how much space you can build in.
The grid expands as you upgrade the size. This allows you to build a larger base on your ship. You can build up to the edges of this space.
Progression Loop
Your progress follows a simple pattern. You explore islands, collect materials, upgrade your ship, and then move higher. Each time you go higher, you find better resources and new challenges.
Your airship stays your main base throughout the game. You can build on islands if you want, but the focus remains on moving upward and improving your ship.

Exploration and Long-Term Progress
As you reach higher levels, you find better settlements and NPCs. These places offer better items and recipes.
If you cannot find a material, you upgrade your altitude and search for higher islands. Your goal is to keep improving your ship so you can reach new areas and continue progressing.
