In this guide, you’ll learn how to free the Kusarigama from the statue during the quest related to the weapon in Ghost of Yōtei.

Unlocking the Kusarigama

To begin this quest line, you must first obtain the Kusarigama from Master Enomoto. After acquiring it, a series of quests will begin that revolve around the weapon. One of these steps is called The Kusarigama Shame, which focuses on freeing the Kusarigama from the statue.

Seeking Altars of Reflection

When you reach this stage and the quest instructs you to “seek Altars of Reflection,” it means your current strength is insufficient to break the Kusarigama free. At this point, you must locate and use Altars of Reflection to increase your technique in Ghost of Yōtei.

If you have already used several Altars of Reflection and have a few remaining, look across the map for any objectives or locations marked with “new technique.” Completing these will allow you to strengthen your character and gain additional techniques.

Once you acquire these, focus on upgrading the Kusarigama skill tree. This is essential, as the quest requires you to fully upgrade that specific tree before you can release the weapon from the statue.

Completing the Upgrade

After you finish upgrading the Kusarigama skill tree, your quest will update to indicate that you have learned everything possible about the weapon. The next instruction will be to return and meet with Master Enomoto once again in Ghost of Yōtei.

Go to Master Enomoto's Dojo and pick the start point next to his house to begin. After that, go to the back of the area and continue along the road. It will not be far from where the statue is sealed with the weapon.

Freeing the Weapon

When you reach the statue, approach it closely and prepare to release the Kusarigama. You can hit it hard by pressing the button that's marked for it. This will free the weapon from the statue. When you do this, a cutscene will appear to show that the quest is over.

You will get a new set of weapons called the Kusarigama of Master Enomoto when you finish this quest. This form of the gun has a gold design with toque ribbons and a unique handle. It shows that you have mastered the Kusarigama and finished the quest line in Ghost of Yōtei.
