Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Guide | Where to Find Larvesta and Evolve into Volcarona
Catch Larvesta in the desert back area, then level it all the way to 59 to get Volcarona.
Game Guide by Jubair Baky on Mar 02, 2026
Larvesta is one of the coolest Fire-types you can add to your team in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, but it can be easy to miss if you search the desert the wrong way. It does spawn in the desert, but the easiest results come from checking one specific side.
After you catch it, the evolution takes time, because Larvesta evolves very late compared to many other Pokémon.
Where To Find Larvesta In The Desert
Larvesta is found in the desert, but it appears more reliably in a specific area. The most consistent route is to check around the back of the desert. Open your map, head to the desert region, then move around the backside where the route points you. This is presented as the easier spot to find, so focus your search there instead of riding across the entire desert at random.

How To Catch Larvesta Once It Appears
Once you spot Larvesta, start the encounter and catch it like normal. If you do not see one immediately, keep looping the same back section. Staying in that smaller zone helps the spawn feel more consistent, and it saves a lot of time compared to wandering across the whole desert.
How To Evolve Larvesta Into Volcarona
After you catch Larvesta, you only need to level it up for the evolution. Larvesta evolves into Volcarona at Level 59. This is a slow one, so you need to keep Larvesta in your party for a while if you want it to grow naturally. If you want the fast method, use Exp. Candies and push it upward. The key point is simply reaching Level 59, because nothing else is required.

Fast Leveling Tip To Reach Level 59 Sooner
If Level 59 feels far away, treat it like a planned upgrade. Keep Larvesta in your party while clearing content, then use candies to close the gap whenever you have them. Once it hits Level 59, the evolution triggers, and you get Volcarona immediately.
