PRAGMATA Beginner’s Guide | Gameplay Tips & Tricks

The best early tips for combat, hacking, exploration, and survival.

PRAGMATA throws a lot at you in the beginning, but the main loop becomes clear when the first big fights start. Every time you meet someone, you have to balance Hugh's shooting with Diana's hacking. Things go much more smoothly when you treat those two parts as one system instead of two separate mechanics. In the early hours, being patient, moving carefully, and using special weapons wisely are more rewarding than rushing around.

Learn the basic rhythm of fighting

The safest way to start a fight is to hack first, find weak spots, and then deal damage. The default Grip Gun is reliable because it gets ammo back, so it's the gun to use when a fight is still under control. You should save breakable weapons like the Shockwave Gun and Stasis Net for when armor is down and enemies are coming into the arena.

Before damage, move

Damage output is not the only thing that matters; dodging and moving around are just as important. Short jumps, side dodges, and thrust-assisted movement give you time to finish a hack and keep enemies from surrounding you. This also makes it easier to line up shots on parts that are exposed after a hack hits. A clean reposition is often better than taking one more shot when the arena is closing in.

Make the Shelter a part of every run

The Shelter is more than just a place to rest. It is where upgrades, changes to loadouts, and safer testing take place. Going back there to print a better setup or restock nodes is part of the plan, not a sign that something went wrong. When a section starts to feel resource-heavy, the answer is often to use a smarter loadout instead of pushing harder.

Save special tools for when you really need them

One common mistake people make early on is using powerful weapons as soon as they get them. It's usually best to save them for enemies that are shielded, rooms that are small, or boss patterns that need a quick change in momentum. The default gun can handle normal clean-up, but special weapons should help you get out of a tough spot. That one simple habit makes it much easier to keep track of the opening hours.
