Puzzle Quest: Immortal Guide | Monk Build: Best Ki Strategy, Spells and Finishers

Master rapid Ki generation, stun control, and the Aura Break kill.

Game Guide by Ornstein on  Oct 02, 2025

The Monk focuses on building Ki to amplify skull damage and power signature spells. Your plan is simple and deadly: accelerate to 8 Ki as fast as possible, keep the board stocked with skulls, and finish with overwhelming control or a decisive Aura Break.

This guide explains the mid-to-late game ramp, the endgame win condition, the key gear that speeds everything up, and the essential spells that keep pressure high.

Mid–Late Game Strategy

Buy the Bonfire Helm and forge the Dragonhorn for extra mana. Research Berserker Rage and Stone Gaze in order to finish your opponent by filling the board with skulls. Once you get Trance you will be able to reach the 8 Ki points much quicker, making your build faster and deadlier.

Endgame Win Condition (Aura Break)

Once you get Aura Break, the goal becomes even faster and simpler: reach 8 Ki points as quickly as you can, take the enemy life points down to the “red zone,” and kill with Aura Break. The “red zone” depends on your Battle level and number of Ki points, but it should be around 200 life for a level 50 Monk with 8 Ki points (250 Battle x 10% x 8 = 200 damage).

Essential Monk Spells

Ancestral Wisdom (unlocked at level 5) creates four skulls in a random location and gives you a bonus move if your green mana is 15 or more. Cheap, castable every turn, and granting a bonus move, this is a fantastic spell that ensures a steady flow of skulls; just make sure you are at 15 green mana before casting it to avoid giving the skulls to the enemy.

Stunning Blow (unlocked at level 10) makes your enemy miss one turn for every two Ki points you have, then consumes two Ki points and grants a bonus move if any Ki points remain; it earns a top rating for locking down opponents at high Ki.

Trance (unlocked at level 30) adds five Ki points up to a maximum of eight; once you get this spell you become much faster at reaching the cap, and you will alternate between Focus or Trance depending on your current Ki, mana, and how quickly you need to max out.

Other utility spells have situational use. Viper’s Grasp reduces all your enemy’s colored mana by your number of Ki points, then consumes one Ki point and grants a bonus move if any Ki points remain; this is solid once you reliably sit at six to eight Ki. Eye Gouge inflicts blindness and fear for multiple turns, scaling with Ki, but trading Ki for disruption can reduce damage, so use it when stopping enemy casting is essential or when you are already at the Ki cap.

Absorption removes all your enemy’s status effects, gaining one Ki per effect removed, then consumes one Ki; this can dispel annoying buffs but also clears your own debuffs on the enemy, so it is best kept for specific matchups.

Gear and Research Synergy

The Bonfire Helm and Dragonhorn accelerate colored mana so you can chain turns and cast faster. Berserker Rage and Stone Gaze convert red or green gems into skulls, letting you flood the board and capitalize on high Battle and stacked Ki. With Trance online, these conversions translate directly into lethal pressure, ensuring you maintain control while marching toward the Aura Break finish.
