AMD reportedly aims to release a second X3D processor targeting lower-cost consumers who want to play at a higher quality on the AM5 platform. The rumored CPU launch is also attracting attention, along with expectations for the gaming market and AMD's efforts to sustain momentum in the second half of the year.

According to reports, AMD is developing a Ryzen 7 7700X3D processor that will sit between its more powerful Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 7 7600X3D gaming CPUs. The processor is supposed to be based on the AM5 platform, with 8 cores and 96 MB of L3 cache. The report claims that the chip will boast a base clock 200 MHz lower and a boost clock 500 MHz lower than the 7800X3DD.

Lower clock speeds don't seem to affect the processor's efficiency or gaming performance, which is one of the things X3D chips are known for. The price of AMD's Ryzen 7 7700X3D has yet to be confirmed, but estimates place it in the $300- $320 range. Ryzen 7 7780X3D is priced at a 350 markup, and that's where AMD will try to appeal to gamers who don't care about the higher-end enthusiast market.

There is also some indication that the processor might not be available worldwide. AMD's previous specifications have restricted its X3D processors to specific regions, such as the Ryzen 5 5500X3D, which was initially released as an "exclusive for LATAM" (Latin America and other parts of the Americas).

The 2014 numbers indicate that AMD's gaming revenue is expected to decline.

Earlier, AMD said that game sales would be much lower in the second half of the year. The rumored Ryzen 77700X3D may help the company keep demand for gaming PCs alive in a downbeat market. If AMD had a lower-cost X3D processor, it could offer another way for gamers to join its line of gaming CPUs and keep the company competitive in the mid-range desktop market.

An extra AMD hardware bundle included the Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, ASRock RX 9070 XT graphics card, and the Gamdias Aura GL250 AIO cooler. At list prices, the package was touted as a top-of-the-range X3D processor and AMD graphics components for gaming rigs, priced at $978.98.
