When Curse of Osiris launched many Destiny 2 players who didn't purchase the DLC expansion were annoyed about the locked paywall content. Bungie has addressed the issue with the latest patch.

Some content was locked behind the DLC expansion but the latest hotfix, update 1.1.1.2, will expand on the Iron Banner and Faction Rally. Before the game’s Season 2 was going to begin in December with the launch of Curse of Osiris but fans were outraged when they realized that to access the new event players who have to purchase the DLC. This caused Bungie to delay the event for an unspecific date but according to the community manager, David Dague, is coming next week.
Hopefully, the next expansion will have the same issues.
