Final Fantasy XV isn't Entirely Open-World
The second half of Final Fantasy XV is linear

Looks like more distressing news regarding Final Fantasy XV has been release, but luckily it isn't another delay. Instead we've learned that the game will not be entirely open-world, with the second half of the game becoming a linear experience.

According to Final Fantasy XV director, Hajime Tabata, told Famitsu that the second half of the game isn't open-world but a linear path.
“The entire game structure for Final Fantasy 15 consists of both open-world and linear parts,” Tabata said. “The first half keeps going as an open-world, but the story in the second half is led by a linear path. That way, you won’t get bored of an open-world as the rest of the game tightens, so we made it in a way that you’ll also get to advance through it as you have in conventional Final Fantasy games.”
One of the largest criticisms regarding Final Fantasy XIII was the linear gameplay. Hopefully, we won't see a repeat of that vexing formula.
Final Fantasy XV will release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC November 29th.
