If you've been waiting for Rockstar to finally break its silence, August could be the month where things start moving again. One of the gaming industry's most reliable insiders has suggested that you'll be seeing "a fair bit" of Grand Theft Auto 6 during the month, and the timing has immediately caught everyone's attention.
With Take-Two Interactive's next investor call only days away and Rockstar remaining unusually quiet since pre-orders opened, it feels like the company could finally be getting ready to reveal what's next. While nothing has been officially announced yet, the latest comments have given fans another reason to believe the long wait for new footage may soon be over.

The latest discussion kicked off during a Q&A on X where industry insider answered a number of questions about upcoming projects.
As usual, he was vague about anything related to Rockstar, saying that it was too early to share anything. He said he would speak when the time was right, a tactic he has employed with previous leaks and reports. He has earned a reputation for remaining quiet until he feels something is close to happening, rather than making bold claims before he has confidence in the information.
One question answered the question everyone has been wondering about for months. Instead of asking whether another trailer was coming, the question was whether Rockstar's next update could finally be centered on gameplay. Nate answered with a simple statement, saying he expected to see "a fair bit" of GTA 6 next month, referring to August.
That wording is important because he never directly promised a third trailer. Instead, he said he expected to see "a fair bit" of GTA 6, leaving room for multiple possibilities. It could mean another trailer, an extended gameplay presentation, screenshots, or even several marketing materials arriving together.
Since he deliberately chose a broader phrase instead of naming one specific type of reveal, many people believe Rockstar could be preparing something more substantial than a single video. That could mean several different announcements arriving within a short period instead of just one major update.
There is another reason why his statement has attracted attention. He was responding to a question specifically about gameplay, making it reasonable to think gameplay footage is at least part of what he expects to see. Whether that expectation comes from inside information or his own interpretation remains unclear because he often leaves enough room for interpretation in his comments.
Even without the insider comments, Rockstar's current position naturally leads to expectations that marketing will increase soon. The game is scheduled to launch in November, leaving only a few months before release. At this stage, many players expected to have already seen longer gameplay demonstrations, detailed previews, and additional promotional material.

The company's silence has been especially obvious since pre-orders became available.
Rockstar confirmed pricing, revealed the available editions, and then stepped back without providing many additional updates. Whenever that happens, speculation quickly takes over, with countless theories spreading throughout the community.
Nate was also asked whether that silence could be connected to another delay. His response was much more direct than before, saying that GTA 6 would arrive in November as planned. Some said the continued absence of gameplay footage this close to release was fishy, but he dismissed those concerns as well.
Looking at the broader situation, it is becoming increasingly difficult to imagine another delay happening. Pre-orders are already live, pricing has been finalized, and the release date has been publicly locked in. Take-Two has also built its financial expectations around GTA 6 launching during this fiscal period.
Another major date now drawing attention is Take-Two Interactive's investor call scheduled for August 7. The company will report its first-quarter fiscal 2027 financial results before the market opens, and that timing has stood out because it differs from the company's usual schedule. These presentations are usually held after market closes, so this is a little bit unusual.
There are some who are curious if Rockstar will release a trailer or gameplay presentation just before the investor call kicks off. It’s always been a bit of a gamble to rely on strange meeting times to guess Rockstar’s marketing schedule.
Still, the investor presentation remains important because it covers the first financial period that includes GTA 6 pre-orders. That means investors will likely receive the company's first official update on how the game has performed commercially since reservations opened.

Until now, most discussions surrounding pre-orders have relied on retailer comments and unofficial comparisons.
During the investor presentation, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick is expected to discuss actual sales performance backed by company data. If pre-orders have reached exceptionally high numbers, those figures could become one of the biggest talking points of the event. Strong results would also send a positive message to investors and could impact the company’s stock performance.
Even if August 7 itself does not feature a new trailer, Rockstar could still begin its marketing campaign before the investor presentation takes place. The company has complete control over when it decides to reveal new footage, and any point during early August remains possible.
Additional comments have also come from former Rockstar Games developer Mike York, who shared his thoughts on where GTA 6's development likely stands today. Based on his experience, he believes the project is probably around 80 to 90 percent complete and may already be content complete.
According to York, the team has reached content completion, in that they’re not adding any major gameplay systems, animations, mechanics or new features. Instead, developers spend a lot of time testing, fixing bugs, balancing and polishing everything already built into the game. According to him, developers at this stage would likely spend long hours playing through the game repeatedly to identify problems before launch.
He also suggested that Rockstar is likely refining animations and polishing countless assets across the game world. If that estimate is accurate, it would mean the footage needed for trailers and gameplay demonstrations has already existed for quite some time. Rockstar would not need to wait until development is completely finished before showing the game publicly.
That lines up closely with the insider's earlier remarks about Rockstar sticking to its marketing strategy.
Even if waiting has become frustrating for players, the company appears committed to revealing information on its timeline instead of reacting to community expectations. And not to mention that keeping everything under wraps allows Rockstar to surprise audiences whenever new material does finally arrive.

The conversation also touched upon Sony’s stance on physical game discs, a subject that has become more relevant in the wake of GTA 6’s release plans. During Sony’s latest earnings call, CFO Lynn Tao said the company decided to continue its march toward digital distribution because the overall market has steadily marched that way.
Sony also knew that many players have emotional attachments to physical games as these are memories and collections that have been built up over many years. The company, however, stands its ground despite the criticism.
The comments made during the earnings call indicate that Sony is not changing course and is sticking to its current strategy. That effectively closes the door on expectations that the company will return to large-scale physical disc production anytime soon.
For GTA 6, that means the lack of a traditional physical release should no longer be viewed as a temporary situation waiting to change later. Instead, it is a sign of a larger industry trend that the big companies appear increasingly committed to embracing.
While some players still express concerns about long-term preservation, many expect the game will be preserved in the future through PC releases and other archiving efforts. For now, however, all eyes are on what Rockstar will do next, with August looking to be one of the most watched months leading into GTA 6’s planned November release.
