Grand Theft Auto 6 is getting nearer to its much-hyped release, with new details leaking via digital storefront updates and physical retail copies. As expected, a recent XBOX platform update revealed the download size for the Series X and S versions will be about 209GB.
This is almost identical to the previously reported PlayStation size of around 210GB, suggesting that players on both platforms will need to clear a substantial amount of storage before installing the game. The new information also gives fans a better idea of when they can begin downloading the game ahead of launch.

According to the reported XBOX preload information, players can start downloading GTA 6 on November 9 at 7 P.M. Eastern Time, or midnight GMT on November 10.
PlayStation players are expected to receive their preload access later. However, the reported download sizes are not necessarily final, as the game will still receive a day-one update. The placeholder size was 212GB, according to previous database reports, so final install requirements could change when Rockstar releases the remaining files and updates. There are still questions about the regional versions of GTA 6. According to data from PlayStation’s game database, there are three different builds: a worldwide build, a Japanese build, and a build for Australia and New Zealand.
Those different builds have sparked speculation about regional censorship. Some content related to gambling, casino activities, individual missions, and cutscenes may be altered to comply with local regulations. However, Rockstar has not confirmed that it will remove or change any content in these regions.
The New Zealand version has attracted particular attention because some players traditionally use the region's time zone to access games earlier than their local release time. If its version of GTA 6 contains different content, players using that method could initially experience a modified version of the game. They might then need to download their local regional version later to access the intended release.
Meanwhile, physical copies of GTA 6 are reportedly reaching retailers worldwide.
Pictures posted online have provided an early look at the packaging, including the front cover, back artwork, and materials included inside the case. A particularly interesting find is a double-sided poster that should be included with physical copies at MediaMarkt and Saturn.
There was some initial confusion about whether the poster was an official Rockstar product or a retailer-exclusive bonus. However, people reportedly contacted MediaMarkt directly and received confirmation that the poster is included with the physical edition and is official Rockstar material.
This gives physical buyers something extra beyond the game itself, especially since many modern releases include little more than a disc or a printed download code in their cases. The poster folds to fit inside the standard game packaging, so players will need to unfold it to see the full artwork.
The physical packaging has also revealed extra information about the game. The back cover includes a short description of Jason and Lucia and their involvement in the Sunshine State's criminal activities. You can also see several screenshots, including an image of Lucia, a plane flying away, and another showing Jason near a vehicle. The packaging isn't in English, but the details appear to match previously released descriptions of the game's story.

Another important detail on the packaging states that GTA 6 is a single-player experience, but it also mentions online functionality.
This doesn't necessarily tell us what Rockstar has in store for the game's online component. Still, it does confirm that the physical edition is marketed primarily for its single-player experience. The packaging also lists a minimum storage requirement of 230GB for the photographed PlayStation version.
The physical packaging also mentions in-game purchases and microtransactions. It doesn't say what they're for,, bt the phrasing could refer to additional content or features Rockstar plans to add. The information might also be a general disclosure for the game, rather than confirmation of a specific monetization system.
With physical copies hitting stores, more information could come out in the coming days and weeks.
Database updates, trophy lists, installation details, and other findings may shed light on the game before it's released. However, just because retail copies are out there doesn't mean players have access to the full game, and fans should be wary of unverified leaks.
With the GTA 6 release date fast approaching on November 19, these latest finds offer another look at what gamers can expect. Rockstar's next release is already generating a ton of pre-launch buzz, with its enormous storage needs, regional differences, physical extras, and mentions of online features.
