Humble Bundle Caps Charity Donations To 15%
Consumers can no longer give the majority to charities.

Humble Bundle has announced that it is revamping how users can distribute revenue from their purchases. With the current system, shoppers can customize who receives every dollar spent between Humble Bundle, the game’s publisher, and charitable causes. This could result in publishers receiving nothing for their games and everything going to charity, or visa-versa. Now, under the new planned scheme consumers will only be able to stick to static amounts, with charity donations capping at 15% of the bill. On the flip side, publishers will now gain at minimum 80% of the funds, while Humble Bundle will always collect at least 5%.

Gamers flocked to Humble Bundle both for cheap deals and to give the majority of money to worthy causes. Nearly 195 million USD of purchase value have gone directly to charities. Some long time buyers may be turned off by the sudden change in policy. For publishers and Humble Bundle, not receiving any revenue could have possibly been too financially harmful to be sustained.
