Original Composer for Final Fantasy VII Coming Back for Remake
Nobuo Uematsu composing Final Fantasy VII Remake soundtrack

Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of Square Enix's most anticipated projects along with Kingdom Hearts 3. Development ended with CyberConnect 2 and the project was taken in by Square Enix, with the publisher confirming that Nobuo Uematsu, who worked on the original game, will return for the remake.
The news comes from producer Yoshinori Kitase who confirmed Uematsu's involvement. It's unclear if he'll be remastering the original soundtrack or composing an entirely new score. It's likely it'll be a combination of the 2 since we've learned that the project isn't a direct copy of the original with protagonist Cloud Strife being redesigned for the remaker.
The first episode for Final Fantasy VII Remake is still a way off but this is the first substantial news since the move from CyberConnect 2 to Square Enix.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is now in development as an episodic RPG adventure.
