The planned 3.13 patch has been pushed to January 2021.

Grinding Gear Games has announced that Path of Exile’s version 3.13 patch is being purposely delayed an entire month. The developer clarified that they could deliver quality content on time, but chose to avoid any competition with CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. Patch 3.13 had been set to release on December 11, an entire month after Cyberpunk 2077’s previous November launch. Now, with the news that Cyberpunk 2077 would release on December 10, only a day ahead of Path of Exile’s update, Grinding Gear Games feel that there is too much overlap between the playerbases.

It is hard to say if Grinding Gear Games’ sentiments are accurate. Both Path of Exile and Cyberpunk 2077 are role playing games; but use different methods of gameplay, camera view, monetization, thematic setting, and production value. The Path of Exile developer may have additional internal player data to justify the delay.

In the meantime, Grinding Gear Games is using the extra time to already start on patch 3.14, even without user feedback regarding 3.13.
