The state of Capcom is certainly very good when it comes to their Resident Evil series. Having released Resident Evil Requiem recently, the game has already drawn attention from critics and fans alike, who have called it a good entry into the series. With such an achievement, the development team doesn't seem to plan to stop; several projects have already been planned for the next few years.

Amongst the currently announced plans for Capcom is the story expansion of Resident Evil Requiem. The game's director has already confirmed the development of downloadable content. Considering that the game already left some dangling threads, its story expansion is likely to explore the remaining plot questions.

Reports from insiders suggest there could actually be two separate story expansions in development rather than just one.

The first Resident Evil Requiem DLC is expected to arrive mid 2026 and will reportedly feature Leon Kennedy front and center. It has been stated that much of the content will explore events related to Raccoon City and the aftermath of the series' timeline.

One of the biggest storylines hinted at for this DLC features a character named Zeno alongside Albert Wesker. According to leaks from the game, Zeno may be a clone or a mutation of Wesker's genes. This would be quite an interesting plot point to continue the series' long-running bio-weapon theme.

Another aspect of the unknown is what happened to Chris Redfield. As shown in Resident Evil Requiem, Chris Redfield is somehow related to the plot that unfolds off-screen. However, the player will not be given the complete details about Chris's whereabouts, nor does Leon appear to know. This means that Capcom intentionally kept Chris away until future development takes place.

Another character who keeps appearing in the discussion is Ada Wong. Since Ada Wong has not made an appearance in a major part in any of the Resident Evil games since Resident Evil 4, people speculate that Capcom had once intended to include Ada Wong in Resident Evil 7. However, Ada did not appear in the game. Consequently, there is a high chance that Ada Wong might be included in the upcoming Resident Evil 9 DLC.

While that’s unfolding on the story side, Capcom is also continuing its remake strategy.

Following the success of Resident Evil 4 Remake, it seems clear that more revamps are coming. As revealed by insider Dusk Golem, the next remake coming to the franchise is none other than Resident Evil Code Veronica.

Considered by many as one of the most significant games in the franchise, especially due to continuing Claire Redfield’s story and the conflicts with Umbrella Corp, Resident Evil Code Veronica was an innovative title at its initial launch back in 2000.

However, given the amount of time that has passed since then, it is a dated game, to say the least. The remake is said to come out in 2027, with the intention to fully reconstruct the game visually and otherwise. It may even feature cooperative gameplay.

Insider information suggests that development on Code Veronica is going smoothly, with some claiming the project is ahead of schedule.

If such is the case, then expect to hear about this any minute now, considering how Capcom has always had a knack for making regular release dates for this franchise. Another rumor floating around claims that the same development team that remade Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 is responsible for this.

This includes game directors Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo, who have already done plenty to create new and better versions of the series’ most important titles. This shows that Capcom knows what it’s doing when it comes to remaking these games.

Beyond Code Veronica, attention is already shifting toward Resident Evil Zero Remake. Resident Evil Zero acts as a prequel to the original game and follows Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen as they uncover early events tied to the T-virus outbreak. It’s a story that connects directly to the foundation of the entire franchise.

At the same time, Resident Evil Zero is one of the more complex games to remake.

The reason for this lies in limitations posed by the hardware available at that time, and that is why any attempt at making a remake of this game will require creating everything from scratch again, the environment, gameplay, etc.

There have even been suggestions that multiple camera angles can be used, such as the third-person perspective in RE4 and the first-person perspective in RE Village, both by Capcom. If the concept succeeds, Resident Evil Zero Remake might just become one of the most interesting releases within the series.

Capcom is also reportedly considering another remake of the original Resident Evil. While Resident Evil 1 already received a remake back in 2002, that version was still limited by the technology of its time. The new game built on the RE Engine could offer a fresh perspective for today's audience and make it more compatible with contemporary gaming standards.

Resident Evil 10 is influenced by the long-term development of the storyline through the Resident Evil Requiem DLC.

Resident Evil 10 is now set for release in 2030. However, its future is said to depend heavily on how the DLC for Resident Evil Requiem unfolds. The future DLC is expected to include key points that smoothly lead into the next part, introducing the new enemy's identity and additional details on Victor's possession of Albert Wesker's blood.

Therefore, the DLC serves not only as additional material but also as a stepping stone into the future of the series. All of the current developments appear to be leading to something bigger for the franchise's future.

At this point, Capcom’s plan for Resident Evil looks like a long-term roadmap rather than isolated projects. Between major story expansions, high-profile remakes, and a new mainline entry planned years ahead, the series is clearly being structured for steady releases and continuous world-building well into the next decade.
