Resident Evil Requiem Gets Update Ahead of DLC Reveal
Capcom is still actively supporting Requiem, and the next big thing on the horizon is the story DLC that fans have been waiting for.

Capcom recently pushed out a new title update for Resident Evil Requiem, and while it was not the most groundbreaking patch in the world, it did say a lot about where the game is headed. The update, version 1.3.1, rolled out across PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Switch, and the bulk of it was aimed at the Leon Must Survive Forever minigame that was added a while back.
Two of the harder ranks in Leon Must Survive Forever, Forever Rank 1 and Forever Rank 2, had their difficulty pulled back a bit, which is going to be a relief for anyone who has been grinding those out. On top of that, a few enhancer skills got rebalanced to give players more room to experiment with different builds.

The Explosive Specialist skill now has a better chance of holding onto your hand grenades after use.
The Throwing Plus skill got a damage bump for grenades and throwables, and the Strategist skill received both a longer duration and a stronger power boost. The other thing this update quietly took care of was the second infinite ammo glitch. Capcom did not exactly shout about it. They tucked it under a line about fixing minor issues and moved on, but the exploit is gone.
The first one was patched out earlier in the year when Photo Mode dropped, and now this one is dead too. If you were using it to get through Leon Must Survive Forever the easy way, that door is closed. Someone will probably find a new one eventually, but for now, you are working with what the game gives you.
What makes this patch worth paying attention to is not the patch itself but what it signals. Capcom has now delivered Photo Mode, an entire roguelike minigame with Leon Must Survive Forever, and a balance pass all after launch. That is a studio that is not walking away from a game.
Director Koshi Nakanishi has already confirmed that paid story DLC is in development, and he has made it clear that the intent is to go deeper into the world of Requiem with that content. So the groundwork is being laid, and it is only a matter of time before you find out exactly what that looks like.
Now, the Resident Evil Requiem DLC is genuinely the next major Resident Evil thing left to be shown.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake got its official announcement during Summer Game Fest this year and is targeting a 2027 release, with Resident Evil Zero reportedly slated for 2028 right behind it. With Code Veronica now officially on the board, the spotlight shifts entirely to the Resident Evil Requiem DLC as the immediate next reveal.
The Capcom Spotlight that recently aired was built around Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen, Monster Hunter Stories 3, and Onimusha Way of the Sword, so there was no real expectation of seeing anything Resident Evil there. That showcase was 30 minutes and focused, not the kind of event where surprises get dropped.

Gamescom Opening Night Live in late August is looking like the most likely window for the Resident Evil Requiem DLC reveal. It is exactly the kind of high-visibility stage that Capcom has used before, and previous rumors have pointed to Code Veronica getting further coverage there as well. The idea of getting both on the same night, a DLC reveal alongside more Code Veronica, is not out of the question.
Tokyo Game Show in September could then serve as the follow-up event where gameplay and deeper details come out for both. If the reveal does not happen until something like The Game Awards later in the year, then a 2027 release for the Resident Evil Requiem DLC starts to make a lot more sense. But if Gamescom delivers, 2026 could still be on the table.
As for what the Resident Evil Requiem DLC is actually going to be about, there are a few pieces floating around.
A Chinese leaker with a decent track record suggested the DLC centers on Leon and Alyssa Ashcroft. A separate rumor pairs Chris Redfield and Ada Wong together. Ada would be a pretty significant addition given that she had no presence in the base game whatsoever, and neither did Chris beyond a few references.
There is also a case to be made for Claire Redfield showing up in some form, which would hit differently given that Code Veronica has her searching for Chris in the past, while the DLC could show what she is up to in the present. That kind of parallel storytelling across two projects would be a smart move heading into whatever Resident Evil 10 ends up being.
The bigger picture here involves Zeno, and this is where things get genuinely interesting. Zeno is a villain tied to an organization called the Connections, and Requiem leaves that whole thread deliberately unresolved. According to reporter Dusk Golem, Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero are both set to tie directly back into Requiem.
He noted that the timing had more to do with these projects being in development simultaneously than some years-long master plan, but the result is the same. Requiem is designed to set up both remakes in a way that feeds back into itself. Code Veronica producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has also talked about a new narrative thread running through the Code Veronica remake that leads directly into Requiem.

And sitting at the center of it all is Albert Wesker, who appears in both Zero and Code Veronica and acts as the connective tissue linking everything together.
You have Zeno, the Connections, and Wesker all pulling in the same direction across three separate projects. What would make the Resident Evil Requiem DLC land well is some clarity on where Chris Redfield is right now. Even if he is not playable, a single scene, a file, or a phone call hinting at his current situation would be enough to set the stage for what comes next.
With Code Veronica putting Claire on a search for her brother, a DLC that pulls the curtain back even slightly on Chris would connect those two storylines in a meaningful way. And beyond Chris, Zeno needs more than a cliffhanger. You need enough context to understand who that character is, what they are working toward, and how they bridge the older games to this new chapter of the series.
The Resident Evil Requiem DLC is shaping up to be more than just extra content. With Zeno left open, Wesker threading through the remakes, and Code Veronica and Zero both pointing back at Requiem, this DLC sits at the middle of a much larger web.
Multiple reports suggest the DLC is expected to arrive after Code Veronica, which would push it to 2027 at the earliest, depending on when that game actually ships. The reveal timing will tell you a lot. Gamescom is the event to watch, and if it shows up there, the release window could still surprise you.
