Resident Evil Village is getting a new DLC, and very recently, at Tokyo Game Show, we actually got a decent amount of gameplay footage from the DLC. The new gameplay footage shows Rose wearing Ethan’s jacket. Some fans are sure that the DLC is going to show snippets of the upcoming game, some even going as far as to say that it is going to be a prequel to the new installment of the series. But what is the truth? Well, we now know one thing for certain.

Capcom, Resident Evil Village, Shadows of Rose

According to Capcom, this new DLC is going to “conclude the Winters family saga.” IGN states that there is no other news to come about the DLC or the whereabouts of the Winters family after the game. Fans are bound to wait for the release of Shadows of Rose in order to actually understand what is happening with their beloved main character, Ethan Winters, and his family.

Furthermore, the directors of the game also told IGN that the new third-person mode of Resident Evil Village was something that took almost the same effort as creating a new game from the beginning. “Compared to the previous games in the series, Resident Evil Village has an exceptionally large variety of player actions. You can guard, you can move while crouching, and there is a lot of examining objects.” Kinoshita mentioned to IGN Japan. “We made thorough adjustments to ensure that those unique animations would look completely connected, and that it would be playable at a good tempo.”

To everyone involved in the video game industry, it would make sense that this new mode takes about as much effort as making a new game from scratch. It is an entirely new experience for sure, and there are some people who prefer this new mode over the other. Nonetheless, one thing is certain: Fans better take a good look at their favorite protagonist as his fate is no longer sure.
