Star Wars Jedi 3 Teaser Reportedly Slated Ahead Of December
A trusted industry reporter says Cal's final adventure is well along, with a release window and an announcement both reportedly closer than expected.

Big news is coming for Cal Kestis fans. A well-known insider said Star Wars Jedi 3, the third and final chapter of his story, is already well into development, and an official reveal should be coming soon. That alone is worth getting excited about, but there is more to it.
Other insiders suggest the game could land as early as 2027, with EA and Respawn possibly planning an announcement before the end of the year. The rumored plan goes like this. EA could make a first announcement before The Game Awards on December 10, then follow it with a much bigger gameplay reveal at the event itself.

Since the last game closed with Cal getting closer to the dark side of the Force, there is a real chance the final chapter takes him somewhere darker and more interesting.
Start with the biggest update. A well-known industry reporter recently discussed Respawn's future and whether another Star Wars: Battlefront game might happen. When asked about the next Jedi game, he said Star Wars Jedi 3 is far along in development, while the rumored third Battlefront game hasn't even started yet. In a follow-up answer, he added that the game should be officially announced soon.
That carries weight, because this reporter has built a reputation as one of the most dependable sources on what goes on behind the scenes in the industry. He didn't give an exact announcement date, and he didn't confirm a release year. Still, hearing that Star Wars Jedi 3 is far along and that an announcement is coming soon is probably the strongest sign in a long time that Respawn is ready to show you what it's been building.
There is also an interesting timeline behind all this. Another industry reporter said earlier this year that work on Star Wars Jedi 3 started almost right after Jedi: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and possibly even before the second game was finished.
According to that report, the people behind the series always planned a trilogy, so Respawn didn't decide to make the third game only after seeing how well Jedi: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sold. The team already had Cal Kestis' story mapped out across three games, and work on the final installment began around 2023, while Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was wrapping up.
If that is accurate, the game has been in development for more than three years, which helps explain why it is being described as so far along.
It also makes a 2027 launch sound a lot more believable, especially since Jedi: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor arrived roughly three and a half years after Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It helps to remember how far the series has come. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order introduced Cal as a young Jedi on the run, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor picked up his story years later.
Since the plan was always for three games, Star Wars Jedi 3 is supposed to close out Cal's story rather than begin a fresh one, and that's a big part of why this chapter means so much to fans. A Star Wars insider has more. The same source earlier revealed details about the scrapped extra DLC for Star Wars Outlaws, and now says Star Wars Jedi 3 is aiming for a 2027 release.
They say the announcement could come sooner than people expect, possibly before The Game Awards on December 10. That is a specific claim, and neither EA nor the studio has confirmed it. It does fit with the reporter's general comments, though.
The key difference is that the reporter confirmed the game is far into development and expects an announcement soon, while the 2027 window and the reveal timing come from separate reporting that is less established. Not every part of this carries the same weight.

Still, it is interesting to see several sources pointing to the same stretch of time for the game's return.
What makes this even more interesting is the chance of getting two separate announcements over the next few weeks, even with Grand Theft Auto VI looming. One scenario being discussed has EA releasing an initial announcement trailer in November that officially introduces the game and maybe reveals its title, then coming back to The Game Awards in December with a far more substantial presentation.
A gameplay reveal at the show is speculation, not something these insiders have confirmed. Even so, it would make sense given how the publisher has handled big Star Wars announcements before. The second game was officially announced in May 2022 and then got a much bigger gameplay-focused trailer at The Game Awards later that year.
Star Wars Outlaws also got its cinematic announcement trailer shortly before Ubisoft showed its first proper gameplay demo. There is clear precedent for revealing a Star Wars game and following up with something more detailed soon after, though nobody knows if it plans to follow the Star Wars Outlaws playbook with the third game.
Grand Theft Auto VI is another factor, since it is currently set to launch in November and will take up a huge share of gaming coverage around that time. Going up against Grand Theft Auto VI could complicate the timing of a Star Wars Jedi announcement, especially if the publisher wants its Star Wars title to get as much attention as possible.
A reveal shortly before the December show could build excitement ahead of a bigger presentation, but the company is just as likely to wait for the event itself.
Either way, the comments suggest the wait shouldn't be much longer. Star Wars Jedi 3 still has no official title, release date, or gameplay trailer, so plenty could be revealed at once. It is also worth keeping in mind that the Battlefront side of the studio's future is a separate matter.
The rumored third Battlefront game has not entered development, so for now the team's attention appears to be on finishing Cal's story. For anyone waiting for news from the studio, Star Wars Jedi 3 looks like the first project to be shown.
If Star Wars Jedi 3 launches next year, the timing would be fitting, since that year marks Star Wars' 50th anniversary. The original movie came out in 1977, and Lucasfilm is already heading toward a major milestone for the franchise, so having one of its biggest modern game series wrap up in that anniversary year would make sense.
There is no official sign the publisher is deliberately aiming for the anniversary, and that alone isn't evidence of a release date. Still, when you put together the reported release window, the development timeline, and the recent comments, the final game starts to look a lot closer than many people expected.

Moving on from the release talk, there is also new information about Cal Kestis himself.
An industry reporter says Star Wars Jedi 3 will feature an older version of the character. He mentioned earlier this year that he had heard Cal would be noticeably older in the next installment, which could mean another time jump between the last game and the third one.
He didn't know how many years would have passed, and he suggested Cal wouldn't be dramatically older, but the information does point to a more mature version of the character than the one you saw in the last game. Since the second game already took place five years after Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, another time jump could have real consequences for both the story and the gameplay.
That dark side thread is worth watching. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor ended with Cal drawing closer to the dark side of the Force, and an older, more experienced version of him gives the writers room to explore what that has done to him over the years in between. An older Cal could also mean a more settled, more weathered character, though none of the insiders have said anything specific about the story itself
