The Biggest Announcements from the February 2023 Nintendo Direct
The February 2023 Nintendo Direct has come and gone, and here are some of the highlights.

Let’s have a look at the biggest things that were announced in February 2023’s Nintendo Direct. There were quite a few big-name announcements and a few smaller things along the way. So, what all was announced?
The biggest thing to be shown off was definitely The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it got a brand new gameplay trailer that showed off some of the new world, and if you enjoyed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this should be exactly the kind of thing you’ve been waiting for. Furthermore, you won’t have to wait very long seeing as the latest Legend of Zelda is releasing on 12 May 2023
Pikmin 4 has finally been revealed in a new trailer and it showed off some of the new creatures, such as a dog-like creature, and some new Pikmin, like an ice version. The game will release on Switch on 21 July 2023.
Samba de Amigo: Party Central is a rhythm game that will be released in Summer 2023, and you can dance to your heart’s content with over 40 songs when it releases.
Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass brings the game back to the first Splatoon’s Inkopolis setting. There will also be new Squid Sisters concerts and a whole bunch of DLC, but we haven’t gotten much new information just yet.
Disney Illusion Island is a co-op platformer with all your favorite Disney characters, like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald Duck, and each of them will have their own special abilities as they attempt to save the day! The game will release on 28 July 2023.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, the ground-up remake of the first two Advance Wars games, has revealed its release date, and its officially 21 April 2023 for the Switch.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam has been announced in a new trailer, but that trailer only really confirmed that the game exists and will be released at some point in the future.
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon was shown off a little more, and we got to see some of the young Bayonetta as she uses various elemental abilities to solve puzzles. The game will release on 17 March 2023.
Metroid Prime Remastered was shown off for the Nintendo Switch and is now available! However, physical sales only open on 22 February 2023. The new remaster feature dual-stick controls with an option for the old system if that’s your kind of thing.
Octopath Traveler II has just released a demo that you can check out, and it even allows you to bring your saves over from it to the full version when it releases, and that full version will release on 24 February 2023 on the Switch.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is a new addition to Mario Kart 8 that adds a new course in Yoshi’s Island, and a new racer, Birdo. It will release in Spring 2023. There will be more to come.
Omega Strikers is a free-to-play multiplayer soccer/air-hockey game that releases on 27 April 2023.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass has added on a third volume of content, and that will release on 15 February 2023, and it will add a new Lapidartist hero. In addition, there will be a new roguelite mode called Archsage’s Gauntlet that should add some more replayability to the game.
Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is a collection of the first three Etrian Odyssey games, and they will be released as a remastered collection on 1 June 2023.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe – Magolor Epilogue is a remaster of the 2011 game but will add on a new epilogue once you finish the Story Mode. Plus, it has four-player functionality on a single Switch. In the meantime, you can check out the demo in the Nintendo eShop.
Fire Emblem Engage Expansion Pass was shown off and it has a whole bunch of new characters that will enter the game, such as Hector, Soren, Camilla, Chrom, Robin, and Veronica. There will also be a new story added to the game, and it will be called Fell Xenologue.
We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie is a remaster of the original game with a bunch of new challenges and even a photo mode. It will release on 2 June 2023.
Baten Kaitos I & II Remaster are an older pair of games that will now be released on the Nintendo Switch sometime in Summer 2023.
