Hype for The Last of Us 2 is now in full swing, as people start getting their hands on the highly anticipated PlayStation 4 (PS4) exclusive. To commemorate the long time coming event, Sony's PlayStation Belgium branch has launched a contest to recreate a song from protagonist Ellie's catalog.

The Last of Us 2, Cover Song, Win Guitar

On their Facebook page, the local PlayStation affiliate is tasking their fans to cover "Through the Valley," as shown in a solemn and even somewhat disturbing cutscene. The song is a muted, slow-paced ballad, performed on an acoustic guitar, though the entry doesn't need to adhere to that style. A video of the cover needs to be posted as a reply, but can also be shared through social media. There are a few hashtags to apply to the cover as well, in order to be eligible. Make sure to carefully review all the rules, noted on the page, before getting started. It would be a shame to put in so much effort, only to overlook the details.

The prize for the contest consists of a Taylor 314CE The Last of Us 2 guitar that is worth a whopping €2,000. The guitar value doesn't even necessarily come from Sony's branding; they're really just that expensive. That's not a bad haul for a day's work. A winner for this special event will be named next month. There's also a runner-up who will be gifted a GS Mini.

Any major new release is always a source of inspiration for artists to create new art. This should be a nice way to encourage fans of The Last of Us to let their creative juices flow. At least, that is if you can pry yourself away from your PS4 long enough to do anything other than get Ellie through their next nightmarish chapter.
