Doom: The Dark Ages Guide | How to Destroy Demonic Portals in Cover the Escape

During the "Cover the Escape" quest, you must destroy four portals scattered around the map, infested with different enemies. This game section is centered around combat, so ensure you are equipped with ammo and armor.

Weapons and Enemy Types

If you are low on ammo, armor, or melee charges, pick them up from the enemy's dead body.

There'll be a lot of enemy variants in this quest. So, use the appropriate weapons. Use a combination of melee and shotgun to take down the enemies. Enemies will hit you with Hell Surges; You have to parry those with your shield.

Some enemies will block your attacks with shields, so wait for the appropriate time to hit them. Since you'll be surrounded from almost everywhere, be on the move as you kill the demons in Doom: The Dark Ages.

First Demonic Portal

The first portal should be to your right. You'll have trouble here because you'll have a lot of enemies. Use your fists—or your default hand-to-hand weapon when fighting the larger ones.

Once you've killed the enemies and obtained your armor (there's a little bit in the rear, so don't skip grabbing it), note that you must destroy all the demons surrounding a portal to close it.

There'll be a locked door near the first portal that can be unlocked with a secret key. You can open it if you're interested in the collectible from this mission.

Second Demonic Portal

Once you've closed the first portal, the second one should be to the right as you go forward. You'll notice some monuments with illuminated engravings will be on them. This is where the second portal is. After you have killed all the enemies near the second portal, it should close like the first one.

After you have closed the second portal, you'll see a blue jumping platform in this area. Use it to get to the third portal.

Third Demonic Portal

After using the platform, you'll land near the third portal, where you will find the Shredder. It's a fully automatic gun that you can use instead of a shotgun.

Now, you must kill the enemies surrounding the third portal. To get to the portal, you'll see an elevated staircase below the portal—just navigate along the stairs and climb to the top. This portal should also close once you have killed all the enemies near it.

Fourth Demonic Portal

You will have just one more portal left, which is below. Once you jump down, enter the cave-like structure in front of you. Once you enter it, the doors will be locked. Take out all the enemies that spawn in this location. Once you have killed all of them, the doors will be unlocked.

You'll see the last portal once you are out of that cave. Clear the enemies like you did before, and the portal should close.
