Doom: The Dark Ages Guide | How To Destroy The Tanks In Assault Mode

 In this mission in Doom: The Dark Ages, you’ll be facing off against tanks in Assault Mode, and destroying them can be tricky if you don’t understand the mechanics involved. What you need to do is perform a perfect dodge against the turrets.

Once you execute the perfect dodge, your gun transforms from a standard minigun into a plasma gun, which is what you need in order to damage and destroy the tanks.

Timing the Perfect Dodge

This isn’t the easiest task. The timing window for a perfect dodge in this game is very unforgiving. You’ll have to practice and keep trying until you get a feel for it. Make sure you’re dodging right at the edge of the turret’s attack range.

If you dodge too early or too late, the blast will still hit you slightly, and you won’t get credit for the perfect dodge. This part can be frustrating due to the precision required for timing.

Tips for Successful Execution

You might find it’s easiest to perform the dodge while moving upward. When you go up during the dodge, it sometimes improves your chance of success and triggers the weapon transformation more reliably.

Try to dodge in the direction where the turret blast seems weakest or least intense. This can make the window a bit more manageable and give you a better shot at pulling it off cleanly.

It may take a few tries and test your patience, but once you get the dodge timing down, your weapon will transform, and you’ll be able to deal real damage to the tanks in Assault Mode. Keep at it, and eventually, you’ll break through and clear the mission.
