The Empowered Godsbane Blade opens the sealed doors of the Lost Rites dungeons in Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. You get it through the main story of the base game, so you need to reach a set point in that story before most dungeons open to you.

This guide covers what the blade does, which quests give it to you, and which dungeons you can enter without it.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Sealed Doors of the Lost Rites

What the Blade Does

Each Lost Rite ends at a door with a seal on it. The Empowered Godsbane Blade breaks that seal. Without the blade, you can walk to the entrance of most dungeons, but you cannot go inside.

A few Lost Rites have a seal that is already broken, and you can enter those without the blade. The first dungeon the game sends you to, Devil Hollow, is one of them. You clear it, return to the village, and find that the later dungeons need the blade.

How to Get the Blade

Progress the base game story to the quest Convergence. During that quest, you give Ambrosius 15 Wyrmlife Crystals. The quest A New Godsway follows, and you receive the Empowered Godsbane Blade in the course of it.

The story continues after that point with a new objective, but you do not need to complete it. Once the blade is in your inventory, every Lost Rite is open to you, and you can start the expansion content in full.

FAQ

Q. Do I need the blade for every Lost Rite?

A. No. A few dungeons have a broken seal, including the first one the game sends you to. Most of the others need the Empowered Godsbane Blade.

Q. Which quest gives me the blade?

A. The blade comes during A New Godsway, which starts after you give Ambrosius 15 Wyrmlife Crystals in the quest Convergence.

Q. Do I need to finish the story after that quest?

A. No. The next story objective is not required. The blade alone opens every Lost Rite.
