If you want a fast, early Ground-type for your team, Wooper is one of the easiest options to pick up in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. It spawns very soon after you start exploring, and it sits in a simple spot that is easy to revisit.

The evolution is also straightforward, so you can turn it into Clodsire quickly with normal leveling.

Where To Find Wooper Early

You can find Wooper close to the starting area. From the early route, head toward the small pond shown in the route. There are usually a few Wooper in this same pond area, and they can be swimming in the water. If you do not see one right away, move around the pond edge and keep checking the water surface.

How To Catch Wooper In The Water

Since Wooper can be in the water, you can use L2 to lock on and aim more easily. Once you lock on, throw a Poke Ball to start the encounter. Then catch it like normal. If you want to speed it up, open with a quick ball throw or lower its HP slightly before you try again.

How To Evolve Wooper Into Clodsire

After you catch Wooper, keep it in your party and level it up. At Level 20, Wooper evolves into Clodsire automatically. No stone is needed, and there are no extra steps. Once it hits the level requirement, the evolution triggers right away.

Quick Leveling Tip

If you want Clodsire faster, battle nearby wild Pokémon until Wooper reaches Level 20. You can also use Exp. Candies, if you already have them, since that makes the evolution almost instant.
