Scott Pilgrim EX Guide | How to Play Co-Op and Multiplayer

A simple co-op guide that helps you set up multiplayer and play better with friends.

Scott Pilgrim EX is made for co-op, which is one of the main reasons why the game is so crazy and fun. You can play by yourself, but the game gets a lot more interesting when more people join in.

The most important thing to know early on is that co-op works best when everyone knows what their job is in fights. Rooms get messy quickly when everyone rushes to the same place. Fights are a lot easier if you spread out just enough to control both sides of the screen.

How to Start Playing with Others Online

Co-op is more like a shared run than a race. The easiest choice is local co-op because it gets everyone involved right away and makes it easy to talk to each other.

Online co-op is also good, especially if the group already knows which characters they want to play as. If some people are playing on the couch and others are playing remotely, that's fine too. It makes it much easier to set up a full group.

It's helpful to decide early on who will be taking the safer all-around role and who will be taking the more aggressive lane when setting up a run. That small choice makes the early quests easier and saves health.

Best Co-Op Strategy for Beginners

Stacking on top of each other is the most common mistake beginners make in co-op. That usually causes friendly confusion, missed spacing, and enemies getting behind the group.

Letting one player hold the front while the other watches the flank or keeps pressure on stragglers is a better way to do it. This keeps the crowd under control and stops the fight from turning into a random panic.

You should also use special attacks with some patience. If one player spends all of their money too soon, the team loses a strong panic button. When there are a lot of people around, when the boss is pressuring you, or when someone is trapped and needs to be rescued, it's better to save those burst tools.

The best characters and tips for playing with a team

When everyone in a co-op team is trying to do the same thing, it doesn't work as well. Scott Pilgrim is a steady character that makes it easier to control the flow.

Another player can use a faster or more aggressive fighter to take care of openings. You don't need to have the perfect team, but you do need to know how to space out, be patient, and have a plan for when there are a lot of people in a room.

It's easy to form the strongest habit. Stay close enough to help, but not so close that both players get stuck in the same lane. That one change makes co-op runs feel much more in control, especially later in the game when there are more enemies.
